View SCOTTNDAWN's food & exercise for this day

The more I think about success in any aspect of life, it seems to me that success is made up of small victories. My profession is software engineering and in order for a software project to be successful it must be broken up into smaller, more manageable tasks. When smaller tasks are accomplished, it produces a sense of achievement and builds momentum towards the accomplishment of the larger picture.

Likewise, with weight loss, if I think about the fact that I have 70 pounds to lose, it becomes very overwhelming. But, if I look at it from the perspective of loosing 1-2 pounds per week it appears to be a task that I can successfully achieve. Each 1-2 pound victory will turn into a 50-70 pound loss over the course of a year. So far, I have lost five pounds in two weeks, which on average is 2.5 pounds per week. So remember, Big tasks are accomplished withSmall Victories!

I couldn't agree more. I'm a Software Project Manager and the analogy you draw to software projects is perfect. So much of life is like that. Small steps.... Keep thinking positive and you'll do it!
