Wednesday, Nov 15 2006 - Choose health, choose life!
View SCOTTNDAWN's food & exercise for this day
On a personal note, I did a pre-weigh-in weigh-in this morning and it didn't make me very happy. For some reason this has been a tough week as it relates to my eating and exercise plan. I think it started with breaking down and eating pizza (my kryptonite) at my daughter's birthday party this past Saturday. The depressing, rainy weather in NJ the past few days has not been a mood lifter either. Anyway, I'm back on track today. I'm going to take a break from my desk in a few minutes to go take a walk. But first I wanted to share some thoughts ...
During one of my workout sessions last week, I had the TV on while jogging on the treadmill and a commercial came on for a local children's hospital. I got to thinking about how hard these kids are struggling to obtain a decent level of health. They are practically fighting for their lives. The commercial showed children who had been battling cancer and other life threatening diseases. I began to feel a bit guilty knowing that I have every opportunity to obtain good health, but do not always take advantage of those opportunities. I do not have the added burden of fighting off a disease that consumes my energy. I have access to a gym every day of the week; I have access to healthy food, but yet I do not always choose, for one reason or another, to take advantage of these resources that would bring me to a better state of health. I think I, we, owe it to the children struggling with cancer and other physical issues to make the right choice. Choose health, choose life!
