Motivational Quote
Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if green vegetables smelled as good as bacon. ~Doug Larson
Not sure if this quote is motivational, but I chuckled when I read it and I reckon that it's probably true

Couch to 5k, Week 1 Day 2
5 min warm-up
Alternating 1 min. jog & 1.5 min. walk (I ran a little more towards the end)
5 min cool-down
35 min total, approx. 2.56 miles
Health Status
I finished the second day of the C25K program. This time I jogged on the treadmill. I felt a little awkward moving the speed up and down every minute or so. It seemed more fluent when I ran outside on day 1. I also felt that I could have run a little more than I did, so I'm considering skipping a head in the program. If anyone has any thoughts on this please feel free to post a comment.
I'm feeling good about my overall improvement. My sister saw the improvements I have been making and has joined CK as well. Feel free to drop her a note of encouragement. Her username is hzewski.
Miscellaneous Ramblings
My middle child, Jacob, had his Christmas concert at school last night. I'm a very proud Dad! It was a good time. Afterwards we went over to Nick's Pizzeria to eat dinner. Unfortunately, it was a late dinner ... somewhere around 8 PM, but I only had a grilled chicken sandwich with a little honey mustard sauce, so it wasn't so bad. Work is starting to wind down as people are anticipating the week of Christmas, which most people seem to take off. I'll be coming in at least one day during the week of Christmas, but I'll be taking some vacation days for the other days. Not to rush things, but next year I will only need to burn 6 vacation days to get two weeks off because we get Monday & Tuesday off as Holidays for Christmas and then the next week we get Monday & Tuesday off as Holidays for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. I'm looking forward to a time a family fellowship and rest & relaxation

from the stresses of every day living (aka work

).

Random Fact Sheet
-- I played baseball for recreation and school leagues since I was 5 years old. I haven't played formally since my senior year in high school. I played 3rd base and catcher most of the time.
-- When I was a young teenager I broke my collar bone. At the time, it was the most painful thing I have ever felt. Since then, "the most painful thing" award goes to Kidney Stones.

-- I have a computer at home (that is still in use) that has Windows 98 SE on it. Computer people will understand how old this thing is. Still works, although I should mention that I've upgraded it a bit since it's original state.

Windows 98! You are good to keep that computer going. We have one still running Windows 98, but most of ours haven't lasted that long. My 18 year old son can't wait to get Windows Vista. It is coming out some time next year. Isn't the vacation around Christmas the best? My husband and I are taking ours before Christmas.

Hey Scott,
I remember thinking of jumping ahead a week (from wk 3 to wk 5). But found it too hard so came back down to wk 4. But if you feel like you can do it go for it. You can always come back if it is too hard for you. Keep up the good work.

Ouch, kidney stones! My advice on the C25k is maybe jump ahead one week to Week 2, but I woudln't go any further. Its better to feel like you can do more than to feel like you've burned yourself out/been injured and can't exercise at all
:) Go for an extra walk in the week or something if you feel like more exercise. Sometimes if I run more than I should it catches up with me a few days later and my legs get REALLY sore.

I'm happy that you are making over all improvements from being here. And I hear you on the kidney stones! I had 2 and I still have 3 just hanging around in there waiting for the right time (in the middle of the night) to torture me.
