Weight
Yesterday was my official weigh in and I have to say that I was a little nervous. I have been eating pretty bad this past week. Too many french fries

. When I weighed in on Sunday I had gained 5 pounds in 3 days

. Some of that was sewage backup if you know what I mean

. After the weigh in I got focused again and really watched what I ate and put in a few good workouts. So, on Thursday my weigh-in showed that I had maintained my weight from the week before.
The Docs Report
I had a follow-up appointment with my doctor on Wednesday morning and I got some really great news. She noticed that I had lost 18 pounds since my last visit in October '06 and she said that if I lose another 20 pounds, I can try going off of my blood pressure medicine.

I still have a lot of stress that contributes to my hypertension, but I think my body will be better able to handle the stress after shedding another 20 pounds. Needless to say, I was thrilled. As I mentioned in a previous blog entry, I had blood work taken a few months ago and the results really surprised me. Keep in mind that my triglyceride level was over 450 back in 2002. I am currently on medication which has brought it under control, but since I have been losing weight my counts are excellent.
Triglycerides: 82
Cholesterol, Total: 139
HDL Cholesterol: 52
LDL Cholesterol: 71
Exercise
Well, I haven't really been sticking to the C25K program, not because I haven't had time, but because I really want to start diversifying my workouts. I am already short on time for exercise and I want to make sure that I am getting enough cardio, resistance, balance and flexibility training in every week. I have started doing some yoga routines in the evenings and next week I will be starting a strength training workout at the new gym I've joined. With trying to balance the different aspects of exercise, I'm not sure I will have time to run three times per week. Any tips you can give on creating balance while trying to complete the C25K program?
Miscellaneous Ramblings
Exercise On Demand
My sis (HZEWSKI) told me that she started doing these exercise programs on OnDemand (Comcast) so I decided to check them out. Earlier in the week I did one of the yoga programs on FitTV OnDemand and it really helped to relax my body. There are also low impact aerobic programs, palates, dance, etc. My wife (DAWNNSCOTT) and I did a hip-hop program. It was fun, but let's just say, "white man can't dance"

. If you have Comcast OnDemand or some other form of onDemand for some good home workouts.
I could have had a V8
One of the random facts in a previous blog entry was the fact that I am a picky eater. Given that fact, I am not a big vegetable eater. I recently saw an ad for a new type of V8 juice called V8 Fusion which is a mix of 100% vegetable juices and fruit juices. Each 8 oz. glass provides one full serving of fruits and vegetables. I started drinking one glass a day with my breakfast. It's really quite tasty and I can't really tell that there are vegetable juices mixed in there. So for the picky eaters out there, juicing is a good alternative ... although you don't get all the good fiber that you do with raw vegetables

Random Fact Sheet
-- As you can tell by the photo, I love Blue Collar Comedy
-- I enjoy solving tough mental puzzles like this one: HOCUS + POCUS = PRESTO. You have to figure out which letter represents which number such that when you replace the letter with the number the equation holds true.
-- My favorite flavor of Haagen-Dazs is Dulche De Leche

I found this so funny. I checked out the on-demand after reading it in Dawn's Blog. Did you catch who sponsered the yoga session. It was OREO cookies. I don't know why but I find that so funny. I listen to Blue Collar comedy on my Sirius Satelite. Have a great weekend.

Nice to see you back bro!
:) I did the same thing last week with my eating .... don't know what got into me. *I told Dawn that you guys should try the Turbo Sculpt under cardio and the Power Walk under walk to fitness. They are both about 40 min. and great workouts if you can't get to the gym. I am gonna try the yoga, but I can't get into the pilates. Well I hope you have a good weekend!!!

Great news from the doctor! I used to drink the Diet V8 Splash stuff but it is made from Splenda, after about 6 months of having it daily I finally figured out that Splenda was what was not agreeing with my digestive system
:( So if that V8 Fusion is like the Splash stuff, I agree it is tasty! Regular V8 is actually pretty good as a Bloody Mary!
=D Hmm as far as the running program, maybe you could just improvise your own program and progress at your own pace and speed. Like: run 5 minutes, walk 30 sec and then increase the running a small amount each week until you can run 30 min without having to walk.
