Shopping



I have found myself spending more time shopping than I use to spend. I know what I need, and I check with my wife to see if she needs anything, then I am off to the store.

Now, this is when I start to have problems with my “senior’s” brain. I find my stuff, but have problems trying to remember what wifey wanted. I look at all of the neat stuff. I swing around to the televisions, and somewhere between neat stuff and televisions my memory goes somewhere without me.

I know that this happens to other shoppers. I look around the store and everyone is frowning, and they look terrible. Everyone has forgotten that it is Christmas. Time for joy! Time for cheer! That is what the Chipmunks sing, and if the Chipmunks know about the joy of Christmas; shouldn’t we?

The angels told the shepherds, “… a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.” A Savior? In our neighborhood? WOW!!! That is better than great news. It is the GOOD NEWS of great joy straight from God.

Maybe people should remember that Christmas is not about money or toys. It is not about going to grandma’s house or the reindeer that run her over. It is about the promise God made to all of mankind.

Here is the Good News of Christ Jesus. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. This is how God demonstrated his own love for us.

That is the news that keeps me smiling. I don’t remember much of why I am in the store but I do know who my Savior is.
