Thursday, Jul 3 2008 - "C" stores, not so convenient
View TJKROWIORZ's food & exercise for this day
Why can't gas stations/convenient stores carry 100 calorie packs of ANYTHING??? It makes me mad. I got up this morning, dragged my sorry butt to the gym, and stopped on my way to work to grab a water and some scratch tickets. Do you think I could find anything remotely healthy? It ticks me off. I was craving something salty and was hoping I could find a small package of chex mix. the closest thing I could find was a large bag with thousands of calories. I have to have the small 100 cal pack or I'm a goner. I once tried the small bag of chex mix thinking that if I measured out a 1/3 cup I'd be fine. I even put the bag up in a cupboard at work, out of sight. Unfortunately, it was not out of mind and I wound up eating all 3.5 servings. I know that I can buy the box of 100 cal packs of everything at the grocery store and bring one with me. But, some days it's hard enough to get motivated to go to the gym let alone remember a snack. Everything I looked at in the gas station was at least 3 serving bags, if not 6 or more.

Next time I will just have to stop at the grocery store instead.
To make a long story short, I wound up with a single serving bag of BIG Wheat Thins. They have 213 calories for the whole bag. Not bad, but double what I would have been satisfied with if there were 100 cal packs. I know it's not going to be easy to stay on track, but "C" stores aren't very helpful!
On the plus side, I spent $9 on scratch tickets and won $18! Woo Hoo!

THanks for the sweet words Tammy. Blogging has really led me into a better world of thinking. It's not that I am perfect *as you might have read, I just came back after 2months* but I am happier when I spend a little reflection time each day just babbling about nothing but what's going on in my head...granted somedays are more interesting than others...but blogging helps with the routine of things the most. I know that before I really start my day, I have to love into CK and blog...just opening CK first and foremost in the am helps kick me into "healthy living" thoughts. Not to mention, i would much rather write that I was good than i was bad so it's kind of a tool as well. Keep up the pace, just remember we didn't get fat overnight and we wont get skinny overnight either...but each day is new, and the purpose and goal is that tomorrow we start anew. Have a great 4th!! hope to see you around CK some more.
