Thursday, Jul 10 2008 - How Embarassing
View TJKROWIORZ's food & exercise for this day
So, I have to share this with others even though it is embarassing. It is just too funny not to share. I had done really well with my "twelve step program" that I designed yesterday so was feeling pretty good about myself. I was at Wal-Mart with the kids picking up their new bikes and thought "Hmmm, I wonder what resistance bands cost?" So I mosed down to the fitness isle to check them out. Not a bad price so I bought the two smaller bands and one larger one. We then stopped at Subway where I had a Low Fat Chicken Breast sandwich (6 inch) and half a cookie. Another step accomplished! So I decide to show my mom how these things work. So we're sitting in the great room and I have them out of the box and am sitting on the floor with no shoes or socks on and showing her how you can "row" with them. AND of course as I have no shoes and socks on the foam handle part slides off my foot and nails me right in the throat.

OUCH! My mom gasps and then starts to laugh. I say "Well, it works. I won't be eating too many calories as now I can't swallow!" We had a good laugh and move on. So the next thing I show her is how you can put them behind your back and pull them to the front and work your arms.

Of course, they slide up my shoulder blades, up my neck and wrap those tiny little hairs at the back of my neck into three hundred knots. Now I'm stuck and my mom is laughing so hard she can't even help me. On to the next thing... I put them around my ankles, stick my legs in the air to show her that I can pull them apart and work my legs and butt. Of course (again, no shoes and socks) they slide down my ankles and up my calf. Not much resistance when they're on your thighs!

At this point my mom is near tears, my ten year old daughter thinks I'm crazy and I've decided I am just not coordinated enough for these things. I do get a little justice though when my daughter does the behind the back thing and her hair gets tangled up! What a riot! I decided that tonight I am going to wear my shoes and socks and conquer the resistance bands! I may need a twelve step program for that!
Eight Days to Vacation ~ Nine Days to the Lake!
2:00 I am so proud of myself! I was very very rushed at lunch today. I had a dr. appt that ran late and when I dropped the kids off at home I was supposed to be back at work already. Instead of grabbing crap to eat, I took an extra 2 minutes and made a quick turkey sandwich with lettuce. I also had cheerios mix, measured out and everything! Normally it would have been burger and fries on the way back! Wow, I sure do surprise myself sometimes!
