I don't know if anyone here watched the show Big Medicine on wednesday night, but if you did you saw the story of a lady named Kim Valera who is a school principal in Houston Texas. she has lost a lot of weight and last night the story was about how she had plastic surgery to remove excess skin. Kim is a friend of mine. we went to high school together. she, like me, has battled her weight her whole life. when i saw her last night i was so excited for her. she is doing amazing things in her life and she deserves everything positive that comes her way. what i worry about, though, is after watching the show it really looks like one minute you're fat, and twenty minutes and 2 surgeries later you're good as new. Kim worked really hard and long(years in fact) to get to where she is.
My question is this, do these shows help or hurt the person who is hoping to lose weight? do they glamourize the effect of the surgery? because i can tell you from personal experience that unless you're mentally and emotionally committed to living a totally different lifestyle than your previous one, the surgery can actually do more harm than good.
what are your thoughts?

I try to catch that show when it's on. I just so happened to see it last night. I didn't feel like they glamourized the whole thing. I thought she worked really hard. She seemed really pleased. I hate to see Rose get SO SO heavy and have the issues that she does. Interesting show. Have a great day Tony.
