well, today is weigh in day and i lost 6 lbs this week!! But let me tell you what a head case i am. i was a little disappointed in the loss! am i insane? 6lbs in a week? i have got to be the single most impatient person on the planet!! who looks at a 6lb loss and asks themselves if they did enough that week to lose? of course i did enough!! probably too much! some people think that is losing too fast, but it's actually relative to how big i am. the bigger you are, the faster you lose. i know as i lose, it will slow down a bunch, and that frustrates me too!
my usual m.o. is to hit the wall when the losing stops and give up. i figure i'll hit the wall pretty soon, and that is when i'll really find out what i'm made of.
my goal for myself for 08 has less to do with food, and more to do with patience with myself. for some reason that has always been my thing. extremely patient with others. not so much with myself.

on another point, but same subject,...i really want a blizzard from dairy queen. i usually order a large but i would be just fine ordering a small...my question is this...am i sabotaging myself? i know i won't go over total calories for the day, lord knows i never even get close to them, but i feel totally wrong in going. i'll leave it to you, my friends. whatever you say goes.....if i don't hear anything from you in 2 hours i'll take that as a yes.

Okay so now I'm sitting here pondering.. my thought is go for the blizzard... I hadn't seen your blog in a while and I'm actually here because I'm running through the CKU again now that we can get credit. I'm in the lifestyle section and the first part of it is discussing a lifestyle versus a diet.... my thought is that on a diet you wouldn't have a blizzard but the LIFESTYE CHANGE would be to occasionally have the small blizzard... is it nutritious, no but is it realistic to think you're never gonna have another blizzard... that's up to you I guess.

So anyway, my thought is to go for it (occasionally as long as it's within your calorie allotment).... but then I've also never been all that successful with a diet so who knows.... maybe the others are right.

At any rate you made the best choice so kuddos!

:thumbu2:Glad to hear you resisted the blizzard. Old habits are hard to break and could easily become a daily event. Ditto what brienmalone said. Next time the blizzard  hits try a protein shake in the blender with ice and turn it into a smoothie. My favorite is the chocolate protein power with1/2 banana, milk and ice.

First of all, you lost twice as much as last week --- so that's FABULOUS. I don't know if it has been 2 hours yet but I'll say go, get the SMALL blizzard and delight in the fact that you're doing it, counting it and moving on. I am a firm believer that if you don't indulge a craving, you'll keep hunting until you find something to satisfy it -- and end up eating double the calories in the hunt! That said, if a blizzard is a trigger food for you, and you know it, then steer clear!

Great loss last week. I think I may be more impatient with you or at least tied up with you. :bang: You are doing great. Avoid the blizzard if you can. Can you get some low fat, low cal frozen yogurt somewhere instead??? Good luck! :)

Blizzards used to be my weakness, by the way. I ate almost one a day every day... and gained 40 lbs doing it. Here is some practical advice to try: If you're craving something like a blizzard, I've found fruit helps me get a grip. It's not what you want, and it doesn't taste as good at the time, but it may give you the strength to avoid a calorie bomb. Failing that, have a chocolate protein shake! The sweet taste and chocolate usually work for me and you get a lot of nutrients in the bargain. Chocolate milk is another way to go. 1 cup of 2% milk with 2 scoops of nesquick is about 200 calories. Finally, if you're h*ll bent on a blizzard, try to cushion it by eating protein and/or fibrous carbs first. It will slow the sugar absorption and help avoid the insulin spike and subsequent crash (which triggers additional sugar cravings)

Hey! Welcome back :)
Will just one blizzard sabotage you? Honestly, it won't help. A calorie isn't a calorie. Because so much of that blizzard is sugar all 660 calories of that small (or 950 for a medium) will burn straight through you and leave you hungry in a few hours. In fact, 660 calories is about what I'm going to eat for lunch... which is 2 medium potatoes, 1 cup of soup, 1 cup of corn and 4 ounces of chicken (a ton of food!).

resist the blizzard and eat some more nutritious food instead.
your body will thank you for it. it is also important to start having non-food rewards.

wtg with 6 lbs! i don't care what you weigh, that's FANTASTIC! keep it up!

:hi: I think getting a small would be ok. As long as you don't get a small every day. :laugh5: Thanks for the comment! And to answer your Q: a cougar is an older woman who likes to date younger men. :eyebrows: haha
