View WEIGHTOGOCOACH's food & exercise for this day

Good Morning,

It has been a long time since I've updated this blog. The recovery from this thighplasty has been a nightmare. I've developed lymphedema and have been trying to manage the swelling. I've allowed the swelling to drive my eating. That has to stop. The long recovery from this and the stress from my job have caused Depression to rear it's ugly head. When I'm depressed I eat junk. The bad thing about it is that I KNOW that eating carbs causes an increase in available Serotonin which makes me feel better, but instead of doing other things (e.g. medication, exercise) to combat the depression... I let myself eat the junk. So, the connection between the swelling and the eating... the swelling contributes to the depression which contributes to the junk eating. The swelling is water retention and we all know that causes weight gain.. so, I've allowed the water retention to also be an excuse to hide behind while I'm eating sugar free cookies/crackers/chips/100 calorie bags of junk, etc.

As of now, this has stopped. And I'm back on the proverbial wagon!

I've seen some horrible cases of lymphedema. It can be extremely painful and can take a lot of time to manage. Hang in there and follow your doctor's advice!!! Personally, I think antidepressants are necessary in a lot of cases. If it helps get you back on the road to recovery so be it. 396 pounds to 143!!! WOW is all I can say. Good luck and take care!!!
