Friday, Mar 14 2008 - 5K (Not Really)
View XSMOKER's food & exercise for this day
5K: Well the 5K turned out to not be a 5K after all. First of all I was supposed to be running with a group of guys from my husband's command. The only one that showed up was his Commanding Officer. That's it. I was supposed to get my bib at the school house...nope. I was informed that the coordinator had to work. He was the coordinator and couldn't pick everything up like he had planned? Anyways, my hubby had some down time so he walked down to the event with me. He took responsibility for the command packet so I could get my bib! Then they told me that the coordinator had not submitted everything in time for the free t-shirt. Whatever...I'm here and want to run the 5K. The CO showed up right before the race, so hubby was able to give him his bib and we didn't make the coordinator look like an idiot, could of but we didn't.
I started feeling a little uncomfortable, because there were almost no women at this event. WTFark? Out of the 300 something people that showed, only about 20 of us were women. There were a lot of younger guys too, almost all military. Anyways, I had a really good run. The weather was awesome and I did not over or under dress. I finished about mid pack with a 25 something run. I didn't look at the clock, but hubby said it was something like 25:15-25:17. No walk breaks and I kept my pace even and consistent the entire time, even on the hills. One of the guys I kept pretty close to and then passed came up and gave me a good run comment at the end. There were some T-shirts left over, so I actually did get a T-shirt. Yipee! Hopefully next month, the race will actually be a full 5K.
A.M.
So my weigh-in did not go well this morning. According to the scale I'm up 5lbs? What is the deal with that? Well the deal with that is:
1. TOM should be anytime now
2. I snacked late last night on cookies and milk
3. I did not start the week off well.
I really don't think I truly gained 5 lbs. this week and my measurement stayed the same!
Okay, from what can't be changed to focusing on what can be changed...I need to be more aware in the evening. I think my body is confusing being hungry with being tired. I really need to make sure I get a nap in the late afternoon. I seem to do much better with my evening snacking if I've had a nap.
5K on base today. Apparently, everyone from my husband's work who runs in these things wear the race shirt the day of the race. Kind of corny, but I'll be corny with everyone else. I'm meeting up with the instructors from hubby's workplace about a forty minutes before the race. That way we have time to walk down to the gym before the start. I guess the bibs are getting delivered to the school house, so I don't have to worry about checking-in. I'm hoping, hoping, hoping....it doesn't rain. I hate running in the rain, especially when it's only going to be about 40 degrees out there.
Goals for Today:
1. Homework & Laundry
2. 30 mins. exercise
3. Log, log, log everything

Good luck today, and fingers crossed it doesn't rain for you!!
:)
Good for you for not letting yourself get frustrated over the 5 pounds. That is a huge thing I need to work on. Accepting the fluctuations, and knowing it will all even out, as long as I stick with it.

Its probably a combination of TOM and sodium from the pita chips. Just go forward and dont look back - have a good run!
