Friday, Dec 21 2012 - Getting stronger
View YORKVILLE's food & exercise for this day
Well,
I thought it was about time to check in on my blog. I have been really frustrated with myself the past few months because I haven't lost any weight since coming back to CK.
I know why. I eat too much. I am having a hard time with the calorie reduction thing and I will be really good for 2 weeks, lose a couple pounds, then go back to eating the same amount of calories as before and gain back the 2 pounds. Also I am not always honest with myself... I fiddle with the numbers in my diary to make the green check happen by saying "that piece of quiche couldn't have really been 350 calories, I bet it was more like 250" - SO COUNTER PRODUCTIVE! As if me cheating on paper will magically get my body to cheat those calories too and that those calories won't exist on my hips.
Eesh.
So this will be something I will work on in the new year.
But this is not to say that I have been spinning a wheel with no progress! I have totally been seeing some GREAT progress with fitness. I have been doing a LOT of yoga lately and am really starting to feel a lot stronger, especially through my core. I have always been someone with a doughy tummy and very little tolerance for core strengthening exercises. Planks are my enemy!
But I have been finding peace through yoga - being in the moment and sitting with the discomfort... working through it and I am so happy to be seeing the incremental improvements every time I get back on my yoga mat.
I have been having some knee pain the last couple of weeks so I have stopped running... but I am hoping that with some rest I can resume training in the new year. I want to beat my best time in the same race this coming May - A 10k race sub 49 minutes will mean a lot of hard work but I know I can do it!
Anyway - that's my check in. Frustrated but I have the answer to getting through that frustration and acknowledging what I am doing well.
Now to make it through the holidays....

If you look at your program as a health or fitness program (as it should be) rather than a weight loss program, you will see that you have been very successful.
This is a lifelong deal... Don't put too much pressure on yourself to budge the numbers on the scale. It's how you feel, and what you can do that matters!
Ps. I don't trust my scale... It's a big liar!
Cheers!
Pss. I got help designing my eating plan from a nutritionist. She helped me figure out what and when to eat, and that took care of being ravenously hungry all the time.
