POZ6778's Story

Hello everyone! My name is Rachel and I'm 30 years old. I have been battling my weight for about 9-10 years. Like many other people, I've been up and down, up and down.

When I met my husband in 1999 I weighed 160 lbs. Then I gained about 30 lbs. I then went on a "diet" and lost the 30 lbs. plus 13 additional lbs (147). Then I had a severe burn to my right hand in 2001 and they (the burn unit at the hospital that I had to visit regularly) told me that I needed to get a lot more protein so my hand would heal. Then I gained back everything.

I gave birth to my third son in 2003, I weighed approx. 220 lbs (after I gave birth-yikes). Between 2003 and 2006, I went back and forth from 190 lbs. to 220 lbs..

In October 2006 I joined a local health club and weighed in at 243 lbs. I had lost 40 lbs. by January and joined their weight loss challenge. I met with trainers and watched what I ate and won the weight loss challenge with a final weight of 166 lbs. in March of 2007. In February of 2007 I was in a car accident and had severe bruising and swelling of my legs. Although I did finish the weight loss challenge, it was not easy (I was basically starving myself so I could still win)! After the challenge was over, I sorta watched what I ate (I was going to be a bridesmaid in a good friend of mines wedding). After the wedding I totally abandoned all watching of intake of food and stopped exercising. So, inevitably I gained back everything. By Christmas 2007 I was approx. 210 lbs. Then I had a show in Manhattan, NY and was 220 lbs. (I was SOO embarrassed!!! I even purchased one of those squishing contraptions that make you look like you’ve lost about 20 lbs….LOL)

Since January I have gained an additional 30 lbs. and I know that if I don’t start getting healthy that I will end up severely, severely obese. I have 100 lbs. to lose. I know I can do it but I will need to do it the healthy way (hopefully I don’t get to the point where I begin nearly starving myself again). I just get really discouraged when I don’t see the numbers dropping quickly.

So at this point I have to remember that this is it, I need to do it the healthy way!

PS. In the past year, I have been using being too busy to worry about changing my lifestyle to a healthy one. I work 50-60 hours per week, am raising 3 sons (Austin-12, Jacob-9, and Wyatt 5-thank God for my husband), and am a full-time student at Western Governors University studying for a Bachelor degree in IT-network administration emphasis. But due to not eating healthy and not exercising, I have less energy and am tired a lot! I’ve been falling behind in school because I’m soo tired! So, I NEED to find time to exercise so I can have more energy to study!!!!
