Ingredients Convert to Metric

  • 3 cup old fashioned rolled oats (not instant)
  • 4 cup water
  • 2 cup skim milk
  • 3 Tbsp seedless raisins, unpacked
  • 1 Bosc pear, cut into 1/4-inch slices vertically
  • 3/4 Tbsp brown sugar, unpacked
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp chopped pistachio nuts
  • 2 tsp brown sugar, unpacked, extra (1-2 tsp, for topping)
  • 1/2 cup skim milk, extra (for topping)

Place the oats, water and milk in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, while stirring, for 10 minutes or until cooked. Stir through raisins.

Heat the broiler and line a broiler pan with foil (or use non-stick pan). Arrange the pears on the foil in a single layer. Sprinkle with brown sugar and broil for 5 minutes or until the sugar bubbles.

Spoon the oatmeal into 6 bowls, top with slices of pear and sprinkle with pistachios. Serve with extra brown sugar and drizzle with milk if desired.
