Yesterday, my mom called me to tell me about what she had learned from The Talk show. Apparently, someone on the show said that losing weight is 80% diet and 20% exercise. This made me think "How can that be true?" In my own life, at 51, the only way I can seem to even maintain my unhealthy weight is to exercise 30 minutes a day. And if I want to lose weight, I need to exercise more than 1 hour each day.Wednesday, September 21st 2011

I did my goals yesterday. . . walked 30 minutes and set my alarm clock on the other side of the room. I could have done without the homemade oatmeal cookies that my daughter made me for my birthday. Clearly, that put me over my calorie target.Monday, September 19th 2011
Another Monday and another day to start over. . . AGAIN. I am finding it very difficult to exercise and it has to do with motivation. About 3 weeks ago, I took the dog for my run-walk (more walking than running). Part of the route is side walk, but the middle of the route is a dirt path. I take the dirt path with the thought of improving my balance. As luck would have it, I took a hard fall and banged myself up pretty good. . . so much for improving my balance! The family dog is having some issues. . . these may be her final days with us. On Monday, I came home to find Daisy (the family dog) not bearing any weight on her left hind quarter. She seemed like she was in pain and it was very difficult for her to get up and down. My husband was out of town and the kids were in Las Vegas.
