CWCEBMEY's CalorieKing Blog

My name is Cynthia. I joined CalorieKing in April 2006. My highest weight was 270. I needed to make some changes in my life. So like most folks, I made a new year resolution to loose weight. I choose to do this with baby steps. First, I joined a gym on 1/4/06 and discovered my weight to be 270. I started to exercise 2-3 times a week. Then, in March, I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. Now I knew that I really needed to keep exercising and now I needed to learn how to eat, control my ... Read more

Diet vs Exercise

Wednesday, January 4th 2012

Yesterday, my mom called me to tell me about what she had learned from The Talk show. Apparently, someone on the show said that losing weight is 80% diet and 20% exercise. This made me think "How can that be true?" In my own life, at 51, the only way I can seem to even maintain my unhealthy weight is to exercise 30 minutes a day. And if I want to lose weight, I need to exercise more than 1 hour each day.

But as I thought about this, I thought about all the people who have had ...

Feeling Good

Wednesday, September 21st 2011

I did not make either of yesterday's goal. Clearly, I need to stay away from the sweets. So the number one goal. . . .stay away from the sweets!

I went for my walk/run today. I almost did not go. I did not put my alarm across the room. I turned off the alarm, stood up, and then bent over with my belly on the bed and my feet on the floor. But then, I reminded myself that I needed to do this and that I would feel good after it was over, so I stood up and walked to the closet to get dres...

Pumpkins

Tuesday, September 20th 2011

I did my goals yesterday. . . walked 30 minutes and set my alarm clock on the other side of the room. I could have done without the homemade oatmeal cookies that my daughter made me for my birthday. Clearly, that put me over my calorie target.

This morning, my alarm went off at 06:30 and I got out of bed to turn it off. 3 more steps and I was at my dresser changing into my exercise clothes. It was almost dawn when I left my home for my walk. Did my little walk with a job here and there...

Monday. . . Again

Monday, September 19th 2011

Another Monday and another day to start over. . . AGAIN. I am finding it very difficult to exercise and it has to do with motivation. About 3 weeks ago, I took the dog for my run-walk (more walking than running). Part of the route is side walk, but the middle of the route is a dirt path. I take the dirt path with the thought of improving my balance. As luck would have it, I took a hard fall and banged myself up pretty good. . . so much for improving my balance! After that, it took a while ...

The Family Dog

Thursday, June 16th 2011

The family dog is having some issues. . . these may be her final days with us. On Monday, I came home to find Daisy (the family dog) not bearing any weight on her left hind quarter. She seemed like she was in pain and it was very difficult for her to get up and down. My husband was out of town and the kids were in Las Vegas. It was 10:30 at night, and Daisy, after several attempts, could not climb the stairs. So I decided to sleep on the couch. I spoke with my mom and husband and decided t...
