Why, Why, Why?

Wednesday, October 17th 2007

Another beautiful fall day here and I expect to spend the rest of it in the yard/garden.

I did my basic loop at the park yesterday but the weather was so nice after so many wet, gloomy days that I took a leisurely pace and stopped frequently.

One thing marred my hike though. I took my camera primarily to get a photo of a great cairn that someone built along side one of the trails. It's been there off and on in various incarnations for a couple of months but when I went past last Th...

Bravo Oscar!

Tuesday, October 16th 2007

Bravo! Oscar Pereiro was finally awarded the yellow jersey in the 2006 Tour de [S]Farce[/S] France yesterday.

The cloud cover finally broke a bit yesterday afternoon so I biked into Fayetteville to do a couple of errands. I just signed up at the Clif Bar 2 Mile Challenge. Quince

Sunday, October 14th 2007

A strange couple of weeks. I'm doing exactly the opposite of what I planned to be doing 'bout now. Instead of maintaining a level of physical activity and increasing calories, I've reduced my physical activity and maintained my weight-loss diet targets. Feeling out of sorts for about a week and then a week of wet weather has meant fewer trips to the park and no bike riding. I should have compensated with yoga/Pilates but I didn't do much of that either. The coming week should be better; the...

Slow Food

Wednesday, October 10th 2007

I hauled my sorry self down to campus last night to attend a discussion on Slow Food and related issues. I went because Alice Waters was going to be there but, to my mind, she was eclipsed by Judy Wicks who I didn't know before last night. Wicks was wonderful and we will definitely stop at her White dog Cafe when we visit our nephew in Philly. And I ordered several copies of the cafe cookbook so I nailed down some holiday gifts too. Hat trick!

I didn't make it to the park yesterday on a...
