View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
I am getting most of my exercise in this week walking around shopping. Today I got in a couple of miles just shopping. I know it's not the same ting as if I was on the treadmill doing 3.0 speed. but it will have to do until things slow down a bit and I can make it to the gym. I pretty much have all my gifts lined up or bought. My daughter and I are putting together some photos from the wedding for my mother and mother in law for their presents along with a few nick nacks. My Mom has Alzteimers (sp? ) and giving her pictures of the family is about the best present. She often forgets who we are unless she can see photos of us. Since she couldn't make the wedding, we wanted to bring the wedding to her. My mother in law couldn't make the wedding and doesn't have a photo of my daughter and her new hubby. So, these will make great presents. Sometimes, the simplest of presents are the most cherished.
I am also planning a simple Christmas dinner. New York Strip steak, baked potatoes, asparagus with orange sauce, rolls, and some kind of dessert. Not real fancy, but something we don't eat every day and will enjoy. The day after Christmas we will travel up north to Dallas to visit my son. The following day we will go to Greenville, Texas and visit hubby's family. Food there is usually much harder to to stay on course with, especially since I won't be able to bring anything this year to help compensate my diet. I usually bring a vegetable of some kind to off set the abundance of carbs and fat laden foods his family usually has for their spread. I have usually bought the only real vegetable to the table each year. Over the years it has gotten better as some of us have gotten a few health conditions, but now that F. is gone and I am the only diabetic left in the family, people may forget to plan healthier foods. You should have seen all the desserts at Thanksgiving !!!!!! I only asked two people to bring dessert and no nibbles, but I got them anyway ! I guess that is the one thing about the holidays that some families think are traditions. The sweet treats ! I tried to get those cut down Thanksgiving by only asking two people to bring dessert. I found that they were less willing to bring an entree, but without me asking would bring a dessert on their own ! GO figure. I would have bought extra food and not a dessert.
Talk to everyone tomorrow.

I like simple food. And sweets are an epidemic in our society. Did you ever notice that desserts are minimal in Chinese and Japanese restaurants? By the way, I will send a message about the meals I prepared before my surgery. I got your message late, because I haven't been logging in. Your dinner sounds elegant.

Sounds like you have a wonderful Christmas planned. I do wonder why our society is so caught up in food, especially sweets. I think simpler food is often better, you can actually taste the food without a lot of strong seasoning and fat. I am doing a simpler dinner for my extended family, ham, salads & veggie tray, and a baked potato bar (toppings available for potatoes like cheese sauce, broccoli, low fat sour cream etc) Have a Merry Christmas if I don't talk to you again before then!
