Today I went shopping for the food I plan on making and freezing for the week I am resting up after my operation. I had to choose frozen meals that I could tolerate for my lunches since i will be one handed for 10 days. I settled on Kashi's frozen chicken entrees as well as some vegetarian meals from the health food section of the grocery store. I will try one Amy's pasta bowl. Unfortunately, I will have to eat some cheese products this week since so many frozen meals have dairy in them. I hope...Thursday, March 6th 2008
Get your sleep, you need 8-10 hours a day my mother would say. That's all I heard growing up as she would lecture me every time I would question why I had a bedtime when other kids did not. She told me it was even more important for me since I had a health problem that I get proper rest. Well, as I got older I have come to appreciate that advice since the past 10 years I have suffered from a sleep disorder and have had to come to terms with it. Yesterday I went to the hospital to get all the pre-op test done for my surgery. There I met a nurse who was taking down all my meds and other vital medical facts. She started to talk to me about my diabetes and my weight when I told her I had been losing and decreasing my insulin intake. Now this nurse was over weight herself and knew what I was doing was something special. She asked me if I wanted to know my BMI and I told her I pretty much knew where it was, but she could look it up anyway....Monday, March 3rd 2008
I've been reading some of Ck's material on self esteem and realized that a lot of my over eating has been because of low self esteem. I talked a little about this already when I shared how I had to learn how to like myself first before I could loose weight. Self esteem and liking ones self go hand in hand. I really enjoyed the Ck article, "Self-Esteem: Your Weight Loss Maker Or Breaker?" because it gave helpful ways to aid in building up my self esteem. Nothing going on today. I seem to be able to stay within my calories better now since I re-adjusted the number to 1252. So when I go over I get into the maximum cals for weight loss (1330) and still get a green check. Except for Friday's doggy dumps, I felt ok. My dog is still recovering and trying to get out of the collar the vet put him in. He can't go through the doggy door, so I have to let him out when he needs to go.
