Monday, Nov 12 2007 - It's a chilly rainy Monday

It sure feels like Fall here today! Windstorms woke me up all night last night. I love windstorms, although the waving of the trees in the neighbor's yard sometimes makes me worry about them falling on our house. But we lived in a house with two trees that tall right next to it as a kid and they never fell over. They're pretty deep rooted. Now I'd worry more about if they were birch trees!

Got up this morning and ran to Starbucks. It felt really good! It was the first rainy run I've done in a long time, which is really odd for this time of year. It was cold and chilly, but nice. A few people commented on my article again, which was cool. Funny to be this mini-celebrity. Roy is so proud. He's so much a better person than I am. I might be slightly jealous. But that's why we're perfect together. His needs are different than mine. He fulfills many of my needs. I fulfill many of his. We both allow each other to fulfill our other needs on our own by supporting each other.

I asked him last night, in fact, to think about what things he might like to pursue. I'm pursuing running a marathon in every state and I don't think either of us thought about what this might mean financially, in cost of time, and personally. I love that he supports that, but at the same time I want to make sure that I'm able to support him in things he wants to do.

I'm a little frustrated at being 2 pounds up, despite no real physiological reason for it. I worked out less leading up to the marathon, obviously, but I modified my caloric intake when I did it. Could be water weight due to the muscles retaining water while they repair from the marathon. I actually wore my "skinny jeans" (a pair of size 0 jeans I got at a thrift store when I was down to about 110 after my Whipple) to prove to myself that I did not gain fat. Silly, I know. But I think once you have weight issues, you always have weight issues.

I just read your whole NYC Marathon write-up. Great job on the race, & on telling the story! If you haven't done a marathon in Alaska yet, check out the Equinox Marathon, http://www.equinoxmarathon.org. You couldn't ask for a prettier course. I've walked it several times, most recently in 2004, & I just love the woods along the route. Also, it goes over a smallish mountain. ;)
