Sunday, Mar 2 2008 - sick and tri-training
View NIKKI8's food & exercise for this day
Ugh! I'm sick today. Some kind of stomach bug. Chris just took the boys to the movie store so I have a few minutes alone. I think it's a bug because Carter has had the big D for a few days now and I think I'm catching it from him. (As opposed to a gluten incident, which I haven't had anything in the last 2 days that would have gluten in it anyway.)
My stomach cramps and aches and I feel so weak. No

yet, but I feel nauseaus (did I spell that right? it doesn't look right.)
Okay, I think I'm done complaining.
No church today. And I really wanted to go as we haven't been in a couple of weeks.
I went swimming yesterday with my friend who is also training for the triathlon. She is teaching me the breast stroke which I've never done. I've only ever done the crawl stroke and I've done that improperly. But this was my second practice since she has shown me how to do it. I have to swim this way because of the bicep tendonitis. My doctor said I could swim if I didn't use an overhead stroke and if my arm hurt, then I need to stop.
Well, my arm is killing me today. I had already been thinking about not doing the swim portion. I did the bike leg last year. My run is improving. So if I could do the bike and run part, I think that would be a great challenge and goal. Adding in the swimming with I stroke I'm not good at (I couldn't even get all the way down the pool before sinking!) I just don't think all 3 events are realistic this year. Now with my arm hurting so badly I think I have my answer. I don't want to kill myself to do this. I love having the goal and the challenge. And doing it gradually, adding another event per year may be a good plan for me.
So I'm just going to concentrate on the 2 events for this year and let my arm rest. The problem with that is I have to find someone willing to do the swim leg for me in the tri. That is going to be the challenge. I don't know alot of swimmers. And people who are into this usually want to do more than one event. I'm going to just ask around and see what I come up with.
Okay, I'm going to rest a few minutes before the boys come back. It's so nice to have a quiet house.

I'm sorry you're sick! And that your arm hurt after swimming!
:( So frustrating about the oatmeal! BLTs continue to be an issue for me. But, I've kicked the soda habit and I always give up candy for Lent (Easter) and for the month of October (Halloween) because those are big issues for me, too. It's easier for me to have none at all than to eat it in moderation when it's EVERYWHERE! Just a thought. WTG throwing out the jelly beans! I'm glad you signed up for bootcamp!

Nadine (nma5632) mailed me her copy of that book because she wasn't using it. I had blogged about using a couple recipes from the book about a month ago -- copied them out of Rita's book -- and she offered to give me her book!!!! I was so excited because I really wanted it but couldn't afford to go get it. The soup recipe was my own, and I just added the pureed cauliflower on my own, but the book has me thinking how to use the purees in my everyday recipes. And I can't wait to try more recipes from the book.

I don't bother with the between the numbers books. I just think they are a waste of time. If they are not about Ranger, I have no interest!
:dazed: Hope you feel better!

Enjoy your morning quiet and I hope you feel better soon. Sometimes I wonder about the GF stuff. I bought some Kinninnick (sp?) bread and rolls and I've noticed way more gas since I did (TMI).
