... seems to have been broken! Down 2.5 lbs this week after 5 days on my doctor's 1000 cal diet. I'm not complaining. I've been on this weight loss journey for 3 months on November 11th, for a total weight loss of 12.5 lbs. It took me 4 weeks to lose the first 10 lbs. Then I gained 0.5 a pound 3 weeks running. For two weeks I lost a little, and then this week I am back to my regular 2+lb/week loss that I had in my first month.
I'm actually surprised how little the drastic cut in cals is affecting me physically or mentally. I was expecting constant blood sugar headaches/migraines, but instead there's sometimes a dull pain, but never something I would even term a "headache" necessarily. My traditional chinese medicine doctor predicted the headaches would be minimal because I've just gone through almost 3 months of candida detox. I've already eliminated sugar, caffeine, dairy, soy, wheat, yeast, citrus and vinegar from my diet, and I'm vegetarian so I was already eating really healthy. Only whole organic foods. I don't do artificial sweeteners or preservatives either, and my son is ana-allergic to all nuts (our home is nut free), so my diet is about as healthy as it can get in this day and age.
The hunger hasn't been bad either. I've been eating my regular 2 organic eggs in the morning, and this morning I cut a few more cals by switching from kamut soda bread to ryvita multigrain thins. Instead of having my protein drink in the morning, I've started having it for lunch with some veggies and fruit, and I've found that actually works quite nicely. One day I was particularly hungry so I had some brown rice and sauteed spinach and that did the trick.
Dinner is generally something hearty. I made a big pot of curry potatoes and chickpeas with brown rice, so we had that earlier in the week. And then I made a big pot of chickpea chili, which has been very warming and filling too. I just keep my portions small and sip water and herbal tea if I'm not satisfied after dinner.
If I need a little something extra I do some extra exercise, but otherwise the exercise is limited at this point due to my health issues. Still having lots of pain and inflammation throughout my body, so I'm listening to my body and easing into it gradually. My goal this week is to do 5 minutes of walking up and down the stairs, and then walk to my son's school (1 mile round trip) to pick him up twice a week. I think that's a great start.
I posted on the forums today that my short term motivation right now is our trampoline. We bought a new trampoline this summer that has a 250 lb weight limit. My first goal is to get under 250. Then I want to get under 210 so I can jump with my 6 year old son. I'm 16 lbs away from the first goal, so I should be jumping on that trampoline by Christmas holidays. Then my second goal of losing another 40 lbs should happen by my birthday in May. My eye is on the goal!
PS There's a safety enclosure around the trampoline now. This pic was taken when we were setting it up and he was giving it a quick try out.
