View THEFATCHICK's food & exercise for this day

Received pretty good news from my doctors yesterday. The Gastroenterologist (Dr. "K" ) said she didn't want to do the colonoscopy right away; instead, she's having me do a magnesium citrate cleanse followed by medicine for a weeks to see if it provides some relief. She thinks I have IDS (irritable digestive syndrome) NOT IBS and wants to see how the medicine works for a few weeks and will probably do the colonoscopy on a month or so. Now of course there are only TWO prescriptions in this category and my insurance doesn't cover either...she gave me samples to last 3 weeks and said if it works for me, we will have to fight the insurance company for coverage. She also doesn't want me to take a calcium supplement until the dust settles on conflicting research that too much calcium can deposit in the arteries...so since I am tracking my calories and CK tracks calcium, I am to get it from my food, aiming for 2 8oz galsses of milk and 1 yogurt a day (each has 300 mg). This I have been doing for the past 10 years so there is still a good chance my bone density test will be OK...still waiting on results. But I do have to get a Vitamin D level test, anything under 50, she wants me to take a supplement. I really liked Dr. "K", she sat with me asking questions and explaining things for almost 2 hours. When I told her what Dr. "S" said about the bone density and meds before having the results...she too said I should switch doctors.

This appt was followed by the chiropractor (Dr. Ted) who also had some good news, he reviewed my spinal x-ray a less rushed and the report from the facility and thinks I only have "early, early" stages of degeneration and that with the disk decompression therapy we have a good chance of relieving most of my pain and correcting the alignment issues. He also thinks as I get stronger I may be able to get back to the TRX in a few weeks. Music to my ears and my back didnt hurt after the treatment! PROGRESS

Then when I got home there was a letter with the results of the mammogram, this too was good news! Everything was normal, I had dense tissue but it is common according to the letter. :teeth1: So now I'm only waiting on the bone density test.

I can't believe how lucky I am, I neglected myself for 7 years and knock on wood, no major issues. I feel like I've been given a second chance to do it right and I will! I am thankful everyday for the new ability to move without pain (except sometimes in my back; even my knees are better), to walk up and down steps without the fear of falling and to know I am not a medical nightmare. So I will take care of what I can, work with trained professionals where I can and embrace this new (renewed) lifestyle.

So tonight is training with Elle...I feel inspired, refreshed, recharged and can't wait to be transformed or reborn like a phoenix:thumbu2::thumbu2: Watch out fat...I'm coming to get ya!

So my inspiration for today...

Have a terrific Thursday!

:clap::clap:..wonderful news to read Cindy..you have got to feel so good that the work and due diligence from a physical perspective is paying off..so happy for you!
I sometimes think that when you treat your body like the beautiful temple that it is things have a way of working out so that you can continue to do so.
Sometimes we all get thrown curve balls..but I do believe that it is how you frame your attitude towards challenges in your life that can determine (to some degree) how successful one is at meeting and rising up to the challenge.
You are an incredibly positive and strong person..you are indeed a phoenix!:thumbu2:

Glad to hear everything is well or on its way to well. I was worried about a physical today after not going for five years.. and like you, thankfully, nothing horrible turned up!
