View THEFATCHICK's food & exercise for this day

Good morning! The air is so nice and crisp although it's supposed to reach 85 today, right now it feels so refreshing. It reminds me of when I was a little girl, my parents had a camp site at Lake Advebture in Pennsylvania, we spent our summers there. I remember like it was yesterday how much I loved mornings there; I loved them, still in my night gown or pJs I would put on a sweatshirt and take my glass of TANG (yes tang!) and sit if the deck. I would be quiet, listen to the wildlife, the other campers waking up, the air was crisp, fresh and yet always had a hint of bacon, eggs or fresh pancakes cooking mixed in. In the distance you cod hear the rumble of new campers coming in, their tires slowly crushing the dirt and stone roads beneath them. The wildlife was always active early in the morning, as long as I sat still except for drinking my tang, they didn't seem to mind me being there and watching.

There were two chipmunks, yup you guessed it...Chip and Dale (hey, I'm a product of the 70s so of course the Disney family hour on Sunday nights was a huge part of my life), they would chase each other up and down trees, across the deck banister, playfully as I watched on. Most of the wildlife had Disney character names, flower and petunia (skunks) lived under the shed, Bambi and his mom would come within feet if the back of our campsite every night to eat the tall grass, Thumper the rabbit, etc. Down by the pool there was a family of bears, a momma and two cubs that somehow always liked to climb the rocks under the clubhouse and the pool area would have to be closed. Sometimes they would just wander the roads in the campground...it seems so magical thinking about it now.

I really loved it there, the Olympic size pool, lake with the dock in the middle to rest in after swimming out, catching and releasing salamanders, I really learned an appreciation for wildlife, nature and quiet there. Some if my most find memories are there, I can see my mom standing in the doorway asking me to go pick fresh blueberries for pancakes and my dad preparing a fire to cook on, sure we had a stove inside but nothing compares to pancakes and eggs cooked over a fire pit, the flavor is something I have never experienced anywhere else. My parents were amazing!

I have the grand baby this morning, he is very cranky, misbehaving all morning. I think his parents give in too much, and so does my youngest who is currently the nanny. He was testing us this morning and well quickly learned the temper tantrums don't work with grandmom. I was no nonsense with my kids, the rule of thumb was if you cry or scream for it, you don't get it. If you ask nicely you might. He's only 10 months so he hasn't learned that yet but I think they give into him a lot and he's learned to whine and cry. He's now happily playing quietly laying down, sitting up and singing, then laying back down again. He's tired but is fighting it. I'll let him have quiet time for another 30 minutes, if he doesn't fall asleep I'll take him out but the quiet relaxing time is just as good for him as a nap is.

Oh, I weighed this morning and I'm down to 197 lbs 1 oz so maybe by the end of next week I'll be close to 195...that would be great, since I have a weigh-in and measurement date with Elle next week...hoping for another 10lbs lost.

Well I'm going to get going, lots to do today and now that he's sleeping it's time to start moving. :-)

Have a great day!
