Yesterday was my grandson's first birthday party, he doesn't actually turn 1 for a few days yet. I was so proud of my daughter and her fiancé, they are such good parents and worked so hard to put this party together. I did feel really bad for them, they had 45 people RSVP and only 20 of us were there, there was so much food left over it was crazy. I know it's a first birthday and you're probably thinking why so big, we have large (close) families...but apparently not close enough to at least call and say you can't make. There were a few that did because they were sick but the rest I'm disapointed with.
The day was a success anyway everyone enjoyed it and the firemen (she had it at a firehouse) let the kids all get their pictures taken inside the fire trucks...they loved it.
My grandson has had a cold for the past two weeks, first they said it was allergies, then they said a cold, he was supposed to go back to the doctor this wed for a recheck but When we were cleaning up from the party my daughter noticed he was warm, they ened up taking him to the ER last night thank goodness because it turns out he has phnemonia! They put him on antibiotics and she'll follow up with the pediatrician Wednesday. I've had phnemonia before and felt like crap, this baby showed no signs before yesterday of being that sick. I picked him up from daycare Friday and he was fine, a little clear runny nose but otherwise laughing, playing and eating as usual. Thank goodness they took him last night, in the three hours between leaving the party and when they took him to the ER my daughter said his demeanor changed, he went from running around at the party to almost lathargic, his rectal temp at the hospital was 102.5 and that was with Tylenol.
I'm just so very thankful they took him, he'll be ok now. He's such a happy baby that he wasn't even cranky during the party. Now he just needs lots of rest.
I'm going to try and go back to sleep now, it's only 6:30 and I came downstairs at 4am cause I couldn't sleep, I'm laying here listening to the cars swoosh by and getting tired again.
