View THEFATCHICK's food & exercise for this day
TGIF!!!!!!! It's been a long week!
Last night Elle had to cut our session short cause she had to cover a class so instead of me using a ticket for session she asked me if I wanted to take the class instead; it was a weight lifting class and I did it! Okay, there were some, a lot, that I struggled with but mostly the lunges, twisting of the spine or moves that impacted the hip flexor, especially on the left side...I modified or did other moves from our training. It was so funny cause I could do ab work until the cows come home, I did well with arms and cardio too. This was a head to toe 60 minute kick your butt workout. I took this class years ago and couldn't get through the first 15 minutes without feeling like my heart was going to jump out of my chest. Had Elle not been teaching this class I wouldn't have even tried it, I only went because I trusted her, that she knows my limitations and made sure I made the appropriate modifications when needed.
So today I'm sore, even my armpits hurt but I feel so alive !
Tomorrow I don't have the Grandson until the evening so my daughter and her Fiancé can go out for a date night to celebrate their 10 year anniversary. I can't believe its been that long.
I will be spending tonight and tomorrow morning/afternoon trying to clean, organize, rearrange furniture, get my tree up, decorated and maybe even some presents wrapped before he comes. I'm really getting into the Christmas spirit and although I miss Mom terribly the "giving" spirit is something we shared so I'm carrying on a tradition of giving to ithers in need. This is something she taught me at just 5 years old (my earliest memory of this act) by taking gently used clothes, boots and a jacket, blankets, packing sandwiches and hot coco into a thermos, driving up and down the main road in town until she spotted the local homeless man and gave him the package. She didn't know him, all she knew was what others knew, he lived far out in the woods in a tent. When I asked her why she was doing this if she didn't know him she turned to me and said because he is GODs child too, a human being, we don't have to know someone to do something nice for them. She said giving should be in our hearts all year round but especially during the holidays. So my Mom taught me the true meaning of charity...the spirt of giving and helping, the spirit of humanity.
Have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend.
