Good Morning All! I can definitely see & feel the difference from loosing just one hour of sleep; my eyes are puffy, my voice a little hoarse and I’m definitely moving at a slower pace this am just trying to find my groove. Excited for tonight, my Grandson Damien (he’ll be 3 in Oct) is sleeping over so I can drive him to pre-school in the morning.

My sister-in-law Jen and her husband Tim have been out visiting from San Diego for the past week, my father-in-law has been in the hospital for the past month with a serious bone and blood infection but the cultures are looking better daily. Jen and Tim cleaned up his house, reorganizing bills and things; moving furniture and discarding items that were honestly junk but he couldn’t let go of because he may need them, even though, he hasn’t used them in over 6 years.

We went over to the house last night so they could show us where everything is and to visit before they left and I had such a great time just catching up and being big kids. My father-in-law in an amputee so he has two hoveround scooters (one is a backup) and the boys…Tim and his brother-in-law (and childhood best friend) Rick, decided to race the scooters through the house. The staircase sits in the middle, so it’s very easy to do laps through all the rooms. It got interesting when Tim comes rolling in from the other room with two pool noodles, for him and Rich to begin a game of hoveround jousting, declaring it their version of Pool Noodle Olympics. Yes I know, grown men, over 50 but how awesome is it that they could just let go; be in the moment, be kids again, let off some steam, be silly and have fun?! We have it all on video to show my father-in-law; he’ll get a good chuckle out of it. The whole thing started out innocently enough with them running test runs through the new furniture configuration to make sure nothing is in way and quickly escalated to the boys reliving a piece of their childhood play.

We were all having so much fun, time flew by and before any of us realized it, it was after midnight. For me not so bad because I dance with insomnia anyway but my husband Joe could hardly get up this morning. Jen and Tim are flying back to CA today and we’ll find out tomorrow how much longer my father-in-law has to stay in the rehab/skilled nursing home. At this point so much is up in the air; we may have to stay with him until we can find a live in companion\caregiver. He is being stubborn, he doesn’t want anyone there but at this point he needs someone with him 24/7/365. I admire his courage and need for independence but also see how his ego is standing in the way of his own wellbeing.

All of this echoes in my mind and heart with what we endured with my Mom; its stressful and my headaches have been more frequent, so that’s a little scary because I’m fully aware I could easily have another seizure. I just try not to let the stress consume me, I put on my brave face, take a deep breath before walking out the door and face each day as it comes. I know I cannot control it, I can only control how I react to it, and I’m choosing to take it all day by day. My goal is just to be the best version of myself each day, showing myself the same compassion and care I would others and supporting my family emotionally to the best of my ability…and its okay, I’m okay.

Have a great day!

I reduced the picture in that entry to show the 6 oils I used. Of those oils, I have read that tea tree is not good at all for cats and should be used sparingly with dogs. The only one I wonder about is the citronella, but I haven't researched it. I felt comfortable using the blend on my pooches because I was only using about 5 drops of the combo on each dog. I avoided their faces and the pads of their feet. It worked well for the couple days I needed it. And it worked well on me and my daughter. Let me know if you need more info.

I only use Young Living oils because I've done my research and feel very comfortable with their quality. They're therapeutic grade essential oils and every batch is tested before it is bottled and sold. I would not recommend using oils from the health food store. I initially began my oil adventure using them and did not have the same results I have since switching to the good stuff.
