View THEFATCHICK's food & exercise for this day

Good morning! Can't really sleep, sadly my FIL is up to old tricks. Yesterday he was transported by ambulance from the rehab to the hospital for a wound check, my husband met him at the hospital early, checked in with the girl at the desk who told him they usually run an hour late.. He patiently waits only to get a call from the rehab letting him know Dad is back...the girl at the desk never told him to come back! When he gets to the rehab Dad tells him the doctor said he doesn't like the way the wound is healing "he's not getting the proper care at the rehab/nursing home so the doctor is sending him home!" Clearly this is a lie, no doctor in their right mind would send a 72 yr old crippled man with an open infected bed sore home to receive better treatment, they would admit them into the hospital! So today is the spot with the infectious disease specialist and now I have to go in and tell my boss I have to leave at 10 am to Be at this appt with my husband to hear what they have to say and then go pick up the POA papers from the lawyer take a copy to yesterday's doctor to find out what he really recommends and schedule a meeting with his case worker to make sure we are all on the same page.

I can't (yes I can) believe that he is manipulating again and putting his own health at risk just to get home. And the sad part is he is in a 5 star facility because my daughter works there, the place is good enough for the millionaire in the bed next to him and trust me if I could go back in time my own mother would be there! I'm so disappointed in him for behaving in such a way and yet I'm not surprised. I was out of work from Dec-March helping him recover from a stroke and don't have many PTO days left, actually just enough to cover my own Appts but we do what we have to I guess.

I've really been trying to stay positive, I guess I just needed to lent it out. We'll see what today brings.

I also have to follow up on the live in caregiver because he now needs 24/7/365 care his arthritis, infection in his bone and blood, being bed bound (hes on a special air mattress that doesn't create pressure points), have really taken a toll on his physical abilities. He couldn't walk before because he is an amputee but he could pivot from the bed to his scooter and cook for himself etc, now he can't even feed himself his crippled hands are so much worse that he can't even hold a pen to sign checks and why we got a POA. It's heartbreaking but I'm still hopeful some of this is temporary and due to the severity infections. If we didn't force him to go to the hospital I think he would have died. I watched my Mom die a slow and painful death from and infection (she was in a coma) and this brings it all back for me. I'm so mad at him for being so stubborn he is putting his own health at risk!

Thanks for giving me space to vent - time to put on my big girl panties and start this day.

Fathers-in-law can be buttheads. Mine is. I love that man, but, damn, he could piss off Mother Teresa. I hope yours will relent after you and hubby get the info from the docs and accept the treatment he needs.
