Monday, Aug 13 2012 - Ups and Downs - Focusing on UP!

View YORKVILLE's food & exercise for this day

DOWN:
I drank a lot of alcohol this weekend. I forced myself to be honest in my diary and the numbers show what I already know.. cutting the booze and I will lose weight no problem.

UP:
I had a really good weekend in terms of controlling my food calories... I did really well to avoid eating too many calories, saying no to bad foods or too much food but still rewarding myself.

Focusing on UP...

Knowing I am getting through the mental barrier of being able to control my food calories and restrict them appropriately is a HUGE step for me. I know if I cut back on alcohol (wine!) I will see faster success with the weight loss so I am focusing on this great positive and will work toward getting those wine calories out of my regular diet and save them for treats.

DOWN:
My soccer game on Saturday was cancelled due to rain - I have been really bummed that I haven't been able to play soccer for the past 3 weeks due to injury and I was REALLY looking forward to being able to get back out on the field and play and burn some calories.

UP:
I didn't let the rain get me down... ok so I did for a while. I had an idea to go for a run instead... I even put my running shoes, heart rate monitor, shorts and shirt on to go... but came up with a hundred little things to do and reasons not to go out the door. It was a constant battle in my mind... I clipped my nails, read email, stared out the window and convinced myself it would pour on me which would make my cold worse, I sent some text messages, I worked on a painting....

and then finally, I looked down at myself still in my sneakers and said "get your butt out the door." and I did!

Focusing on UP...

while I didn't burn as many calories as I would have with a soccer game, I am super excited that I overcame another mental barrier and got myself out on the road to run again. I really do love to run and I was happy to see that I still have the speed although I will need to work the next few weeks to get the distance and cardio back.

Many of us have trouble with wine here. We all like it too much! But you're right to cut it out of your diet - or at least cut back. It really does pack on the weight which just seems WRONG! Just treat it like dessert (and not like one of the major food groups - sigh...). Best to you, Cheryl55

Alcohol is super hard for me to cut out. Just "a" glass of wine with dinner generally turns into more. It's especially hard in social situations. I've taken to volunteering to DD that way I have a good excuse for myself and others as to why I'm not drinking.

Good for you for running. Getting going is always the hardest part.
