This past couple of weeks have been a challenging, but exciting journey. I've made so many discoveries about myself - especially in what motivates me and what challenges me.

What motivates me:
support from family and friends
feeling more energetic
seeing myself reach or be in the range of my nutrient targets
listening to positive, God-honoring music
short term goals
feeling the difference in my body when I eat well

What challenges me:
hunger, hunger, hunger is my greatest challenge
sweets - the two hardest are ice cream and chocolate
exercise (winters in Iowa make exercise very challenging)
seeing other people eat whatever they want and having that green eyed monster (some call it jealousy, I call it a demon) whisper in my ear
feeling denied
thinking too far ahead

I started my journey with Weight Watchers and it was just not a good fit. I switched to CalorieKing and I love it, especially seeing positive steps towards health reflected in my nutrient targets. For some reason, it is really pleasing to see that I've reached my daily fiber target. Go figure! This journey is new to me and I need all the encouragement I can get. It is a moment to moment journey and I am trying really hard to focus on one choice at a time. If I didn't make the healthiest choice this time, I will try harder to make my next choice healthier! I ask God for strength every moment. I know that I'm not strong enough to do this on my own. That's the point though, isn't it? To realize that and start looking up! He can move mountains! If I hold His hand, perhaps I can come along for the ride!
