Wednesday, May 18 2011 - progress slow and steady

I've been riding my bike a lot since I got it.....kind of laying off the elliptical and treadmill and just not doing it every single day since I got my bike. I'm riding around 70-80 miles a week about 800-1000 calories at a time.
My issue is that it's kind of kicked my metabolism into overdrive and I'm hungry a lot. If I don't get enough to eat I get very shaky and crabby. When I wasn't riding, I was on a 1000 calories a day. I was fine. It was balanced and I didn't get hungry at all but it's changed and I find myself wanting to eat....and eat. I don't want to eat back all of my burned calories but damn.....truly, I do get hungry and then cranky and mean.
Tomorrow I won't ride because it's going to rain all day and it's Wednesday which is also by going all around day. I'll be on the treadmill and elliptical tomorrow night....I should have worked out to day in my studio but I was so sleepy and tired today I didn't. But I had a really good hour long bike ride I did 14 miles and 825 calories.
I don't mind focusing my exercise minutes on other activities. I try to keep the same intensity but I hate burning out and then eventually I'll stop altogether. I don't want to burn out so that's why I do all the different stuff.
I got a big day in the morning and it's late so I'm going to bed. I'm tired, the house is quiet, everybody is asleep. All is good in my world. There is progress, slow and steady. For sure tomorrow will be another good day.
