My Beck reading today was "Day 16 No Unplanned Eating." I'm still saying, "but, but, but, I
cain't!" Of course, I
can. Just shows how helpful it is to read this stuff, think it through, and then go, "Oh, yeah, I guess that would help!"
I'm still not clear on how I'm going to preplan my meals though. For breakfast today, I planned grain, fruit, cheese. I think that's how I'll have to go, with an outline that I plug in what's on hand at eating time. Do you think that would work? Such as, grain, fruit/vege, protein, bearing in mind healthy amounts, calories and needed nutrients. Do I actually have to list Cheerios, milk, string cheese, cantaloupe?
Anyway, unplanned foods. I thought, "I hardly ever know when a glass of wine might cross my path!"

We don't drink regularly, only with friends or special occasions or on the rare occasion we take a notion to open a bottle. So I don't fear one glass leading to too much; it's not like sugar for me (e.g., one slice leads to the whole cake!)
Then I realized: Of course, for most occasions when there's going to be wine, I know ahead of time. That's why we're planning only one day at a time, right? Like on the 22nd, we'll be going to a garden party dance, delicious food and a glass or two of wine to be had -- and I'll factor that into my plan ahead of time! Of course, you never know when Kate may drop in with a bottle of wine -- do I really have to say no to an unplanned glass with Kate?

Please tell me no!
Wine is the least frequent of the foods which might cross my path, but others I know to say no to, because like cake a little leads to a lot for me. But this "no unplanned eating" does mess with my "oh, this is a specail occasion, hardly ever happens" thinking. Really? do we never accept a cracker or carrot that is not on our plan?
Spontaneity -- what's it worth to me? I see that Im going to be reading and rereading my Beck Response Card for today: I deserve to be thinner and feel good! trumps I deserve to eat spontaneously. Oh, yeah!

Hallo Yvonne! How are you & what do you have lined up for the weekend? I'm just trying to plug back into CK and planning and all that kind of stuff. This weekend is going to be a milestone in my recent struggles... *sigh*

I actually plan out my meals when I make my weekly menu for the week so I know what I am having at night for a week. My BK's are usually the same or I may alternate them from what I have purchased for that week. It's lunch that I have to figure out since they can be left overs or something new each day. If I really want to lose weight, I have to sit down either at night or in the morning and write down what I am planning for the day to know the calorie count or the point count ( WW ) so I won't go over. Sometimes I can substitute a 100 calorie here for something there like I did today if I know what the plan is. When I got away from this, I stopped losing weight and just maintained. In Weight Watchers we call this becoming " relaxed " with our behavior. So, what ever works for you, the effort is really worth it. Just don't become " relaxed " or you'll regret it the results.

I plan mine out somewhat--I try to eat 5 meals a day. Two are fruit and protein and three are veggies and protein. For some of those meals I eat basically the same thing each day (breakfast and mid-morning snack). Since I work outside my home I pack the 3 mid-day meals. Dinner is rarely planned but I know it'll be veggies and protein. I count that as planning. And somedays I have an opportunity to eat something that isn't planned at all. If you make a conscious decision *before you eat it* of how you will adjust the rest of your day around that...I'd call that planning. It's all relative in my opinion.

No pretend's here, I like that.
I like wine to I dont drink alot though cause of the sugar.I just have drank it on weddings mostly . So here lately not been to to many at all so not much here.
Well I see you are going to plan it so that is good thing to factor it in .
It is hard to plan ahead food planing or with me I can pick right foods but planing tomorrow's food plan I never know what I am in the mood for so it is hard. I guess maybe is where the food cravings come in at too.
Lots to learn either way.

This was tough for me also. I planned generally like you, grain, protein for breakfast and then grain, protein, several veggies for lunch. Dinner was very hard, I don't plan for that meal. I have healthy options available and make my choice when the time comes. I think the point behind the lesson to make us conscious of our eating. I did plan my snacks though, almonds one day, fruit the next. If an unplanned social setting food happened I made the decision whether to eat it or not based on my calorie needs and how much I wanted it, not whether or not I planned it. That, I think, is the real world.

Hallo Yvonne!
 I struggled a bit with this lesson too... but in the short term it's easier to stick with it and then learn to be a bit flexible with it once you're at/near goal. I know you'll find a balance, you are full of it!! (WISDOM silly, what did you THINK I meant?
:laugh5:
 ) // Hope you're enjoying your weekend... thanks for all your supportive comments the last while, you are a gem!
