Perhaps this is what is called a "plateau".

Or maybe, I'm just messing up my body.

Gained a few pounds last w/end, and have been working really hard to lose them again.

I'm nervous that with all my exercise, my body doesn't know how to just metabolize food anymore. Meaning, that the moment I stop working-out like crazy, I will just balloon?

I'm 44 male, 5"10, 203 lbs now (SW: 226). I consume about 1400 calories daily, and burn-off about 300-400 / day in running and exercise. I'm scared that if I ever start eating "normally" again - about 1800 - 2000 cals/day, I will explode in weight.

Although I enjoy working out, and nothing feels as good as a great run or weight-lifting session, I'm not sure I can keep up the pace of 1-2hours in the gym, 6 days a week forever.

I'm under the impression that if 5 days a week my "net calories" are below 1000, I should be able to enjoy a decent size meal 2-3 days a week, w/out gaining 2-3 lbs?

What will be? Do I really need to workout and restrict my calories so much just to lose 2lbs / week? My Gosh!

Any thoughts?

No, I have never had that checked.

Perhaps you are correct. Alternatively, I may have messed up my body so much from the YoYo effect!

Thanks for the advice

Have you had a medical check and tests lately? I have no thyroid function and even with treatment have a hard time with weight loss, I eat 1120-1200 calories a day and am pool walking and still it is a battle. One of our fellow members suggested I get a test for insulin resistance. I will as my Dr. next visit.
