Saturday, Dec 4 2010 - I Survived Thanksgiving in Vegas, the Land of Buffets!

View KHAJJAR's food & exercise for this day

We decided to spend Thanksgiving in Vegas this year for the first time. If you have never been to Vegas, you would not believe how tempting this is for a foodaholic. Food abounds there in the form of buffets at every hotel along the famous Las Vegas Strip. We stayed at the Mandalay Bay (see the pic of our view of the Strip from the 34th floor!), where the buffet is relatively healthy - lots of low cal seafood. Anyway, I decided that I would not pig out on anything, just eat a normal amount of healthy choices. I ate fish, turkey, rice, vegees, and salad, but I did indulge in a few bites of carrot cake. I sipped on club soda and lime while playing the penny slot machines (I won $80), and spent most of the daytime hours shopping at the Fashion Show Mall on the strip and also the LV Premium Outlets near downtown Vegas. So, I got plenty of walking in. Also, we visited the cardio room at the hotel one of the mornings while there, and I burned off 300 calories! The only downside to the weekend was that I did not fill out my ck diary. I tried to recall everything to log it in when I returned home, but of course I could not remember four days' worth of food choices. The lesson is: FILL OUT THE DIARY EACH DAY, AND DON'T HESITATE BECAUSE CHANCES ARE YOU WON'T REMEMBER! Anyway, I did survive Thanksgiving in Vegas, the land where gluttony is alive and well! Happy holidays, everyone! Kristina
