Wednesday, Mar 7 2007 - Our first "spring" (?) flowers!

View RENIGEID's food & exercise for this day

Took this photo yesterday. Our first flowers of spring. I call em buttercups but Ebby calls em jonquils. They come up all over the place this time of year, in the pastures and around the house. Apparently at one time a long time ago there were some farm houses and an old barn in the back pasture. I have found pieces of old traces and bridal rings with the metal detector. During the civil war, the main road ran through one side of the back woods. If you use your imagination you can almost conjur up a vision of blue and grey clad soldiers in the early morning fog.

Starting the day off right today for sure. Up at 3:00 AM (couldn't sleep) and having a hot cup of sweet coffee and a hot Krisby Kreme donut!! Think I can go back to bed now and sleep awhile. Satisfied the sweet tooth until I get back up in the morn about 7:00 AM.

Spring? Yup, think it is just around the corner here in north Georgia. The days are warming up some now and the nights aren't so cold.

Appreciate the nice compliments from all you folks on my photos. I love photography and "shoot" just about everything in my path. Mostly nature, flowers, trees, clouds, sunsets, animals and birds. If I begin to bore you with them, just yell. Jim (Oh yes, and grandchildren).

How could anyone get bored of the beauty from the photos that you post! Yes, It is spring in your neck of the woods but we have snow and frozen ground still. :( Soon though! Have a great day Jim!

Those are daffodils (or jonquils). At my other house I had them blooming along one wall in the early spring. I think it's amazing something so delicate makes it up through the still frozen earth. :) It's 8 degrees here today - our spring is a way off yet. Lillydale's right - crocus are first. I had some once come up through the snow - and another one speared an oak leaf on it's way up.

Jim. My after photo is a picture of the Edge of the World falls on the Amicolola River. That's one I got off the web--but it's a beautiful spot regardless.

Sorry, Jim, I have to agree with Ebby. Those aren't the flowers that we call buttercups. Whatever they are they are pretty. Who cares what their name is, right?
better watch those snacks, you will be fighting the weight like I am now. Have a great day

I LOVE buttercups!!! Crocus come up before them usually--but they're so small and fragile... But buttercups withstand most anything!!! :D
