RENIGEID's CalorieKing blog

Saturday, Jun 2 2007 - Thunderstorms promised for today! Great!!!

View RENIGEID's food & exercise for this day

Everything here is in the process of drying up and dying. The grass has already turned brown but my main concern is for the trees. This drought, and it is indeed a drought, will kill trees for years to come. They sometimes die slowly from lack of water. Perhaps we will get the storms promised.

Ren's visit to vet turned out ok. The knot on his side was from a shot given when he was sick a couple of weeks ago. Vet says it will go away. :)

Again, thanks to all my friends and hope Y'all have a great and rewarding week-end.

Photo of wild roses that grow abundently in the pastures.
Photo "after" is our "state bird", the brown thrush. A very regal and beautiful bird.

By the way, every photo that I've posted, birds, flowers and landscapes have been taken here on the farm! Love the old place as we've been living in the same old house Ebby and I built together in 1957 and I know every inch, rock, nook and cranny on the place. Nuff for today. Think positive Y'all.

One of my favorite quotes, by Pericles, is:
"What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments,
but what is woven into the lives of others."

We have pink rosebushes that grow wild along the shoreline here. I'll have to post a picture of one - I'm sure I took some on Block Island. Sorry about the drought. Hope you get rain soon. They were worried last fall about the trees here being ruined by the exceptionally warm weather and the budding some of them were doing out of season. Glad Ren is ok. the quote. :)

:hi: Hi Jim! I have never heard of roses being wild and just growing, like Morning Glory or something: What a wonderful image--wild roses! And your bird: So regal indeed (and you say that you don't have a knack for words!)! I am just captivated by it--it is striking and delicate and noble--just awe-some form it has!!! Wow!, Does it sound as striking as it looks? BTW, has the air cleared up? I am sorry to hear that the drought is so bad that the trees are threatened--that scene of mass tree death would be very dsimaying indeed. . . . I am glad that your faithful dog is okay :) . Yes, I know what you are saying about knowing every inch of your farm and it is a beautiful thing to have in life. My grandfather had several ranches with cattle and he would take me out in his truck and I would just feel the love he had for every blade of grass on his thousands of acres: he knew and loved every inch of his ranches, and every inch of his ranches responded to his love: It was always incredible to wittness! I am glad that you have the farm you share with Ebby  . . . . Love, Beauty, and Joy to you this day Jim! Most sincerely, Kristen :heart1: BTW, how can I not think positive when I start my day on your blog, always reminding me of the Real beauty in living?!
