The last couple of weeks (really the last month) have been a whirlwind for me.
I have been really busy at work and my personal life has gone white water rafting while I am swimming down the river to catch up with the raft.
This is what I have going on:
- hosting a year-end party for my soccer league at the end of Sept with entertainment, etc and am creating most of the decor (e.g. wall hangings, centrepieces, etc)

I am doing some serious butt kicking and eye opening today.
I haven't lost any weight in the past week and I pretty much know exactly why. I have sort of been flouting this philosophy of "I work hard at the gym/cycling/running/dancing/soccer/etc so I don't have to worry so much about what I eat" - where I will put myself to work on the physical exercise side but am reckless with my mouth. This false sense of "magic" taking care of the weight loss has GOT TO GO!

So I figured out something important this weekend...
That possibly a large part of my weight gain has been me overestimating the value of my exercise calories. When I wasn't keeping track of my calories I would do very rough sketches in my mind of my calorie budget... I would say "oh I worked so hard in that soccer game this morning, I can "afford" this plate of pancakes no problem..." and then later in the day I might say "I worked so hard at soccer I am sure I st...

So I am deciding to set some goals for myself... and every goal attained deserves a reward, right?? :-)
GOAL #1 - no alcohol until Sept 8 (that's just over 3 weeks from today)
GOAL #2 - increase running distance every week by 10% until I am able to run 10k (aiming for my first 10k the week of Sept 16)
GOAL #3 - lose my first 5lbs (get into the 160's again) by the end of August
REWARD?
I am thinking about a new heart rate monitor. :-)...

I am SO PROUD OF MYSELF...
For the first time in probably over a month... I dragged my butt to the gym. It felt good to go for a run and although challenging, I felt great going home knowing I had also done some weight training.
I went over budget on food calories... again with the WINE... arggghhh
But this morning I took the bottle of white that is in the fridge and dumped the remainder and have promised myself not to open another one until I lose 5 pounds.
