Monday, Jul 11 2011 - Start of Week 3
View RMONTES8's food & exercise for this day
They say that it takes 3 weeks of repetition for something to become a habit. Over the past year I've found myself flirting with weight loss. I'll do a bit here or there: watch my food intake for a week, work out 3 times in a week, or both. Yet, time and time again, I never have the discipline to pull through and I end up failing. I stop my good activity, fall behind and find myself starting all over. Suffice it to say, that this is a milestone week for me. if I can make it through I will have completed three full weeks of logging as often as possible and workouts when I can. I'm motivated to do what I need to do because I'm tired of fluctuating. I want to regain my health!
Last night the GF and I watched a documentary on Netflix called "Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead". It was the story of two gentlemen that were unhealthy and took to a "juice fast" for 60 days in which they did not but drink juice made of micronutrients (fruits & veggies). Personally I think their process was a bit extreme but it ended up working. The first gentleman was a little bigger than me and he lost over 110 and was around 207. The second was a moribdly obeses gentleman clocking in at 429lbs. Of course since he was so much bigger, he needed to incorporate some working out in combination with the juice program. After two months he lost 82 pounds and after a full 6 months he was down to 227 lbs!!! I found myself cheering for the guy when I saw all the positive things he was doing with his own life and its pushing me to make sure that I continue.
My immediate reaction? This morning the alarm went off and I snoozed like I have been recently. I keep wanting to do a little workout in the morning before work but end up snoozing right through because I have work then class (a crazy long day). But after I hit snooze I realized that I needed change. So I got up, got dressed and went for a 20 minute walk around the complex just to get blood moving. Not a high intensity workout but I did something, worked up a small sweat and felt good about the rest of my day.
One last parting though. I've restarted CK and re-ignited my weight loss journey at the end of a crazy semester where I've had exams, presentations and papers. If I can do this now, I'm excited for what I can do in my long awaited and well deserved 6 week break between summer and fall semester. I'm drooling at the thought of all that "free" time that I can re-dedicate to me.

Awesome! Anything you can do it better than nothing. The mornings are the hardest for me to workout in any way, but I am trying to do 30 min on the tread mill before work. I took a break and I now need to get back on it - Thank you for reminding me.
