View SAXONHARP's food & exercise for this day
It has been a crazy few days for me. Work was crazy busy and so was homelife. I did not do a very good job of logging my food last week and we went out of town for the weekend as a little get-a-way/my half marathon. So I was up 3.5 pounds this morning, 222 this morning. Oops. I don't feel that bad about it. I enjoyed myself over the weekend. I will get back to it this week. I need to!
Here is how the half marathon went:
The first 3 miles of the race were mostly downhill so I had to work pretty hard to keep my pace slower (my running coach wanted me to run 11:45-12:00 average pace. I did not taper for this half marathon, he said we were just testing my fitness). We then went about 3 miles on a flat trail. I felt great and was working to keep my pace slower around 11:30 pace and then around mile 6 there was a monster hill. You really could not jog up it, looks like most people were walking it, I walked it. Then got to a flat area for the next 2miles and recovered and then my average pace dropped to 11:48 the rest of the race BUT the last 5 miles were hilly and about 2 of it was on a trail again. I could not have run it any faster, so I did my best.
The weather was not too bad. Luckily there was cloud cover and being on the trails.
The race management was not the best. Hardly any water stations and when they did give water it was hardly anything. Luckily I had my fuel belt and my family met me at mile 8 to change out bottles.
ALSO!!! I meet 2 biggest loser contestants. It was Daniel and Rebecca. I cannot remember which seaons they were on. It was funny, I glanced over and there they were. They were very nice and we spoke for a while. They definately put some pounds back on. they said they were getting back into running and did the 10K. She said Jullian was Jullian....what you see on TV is what you get. She said Bob was awesome. She also said that the new male trainer for the up coming season was going to be very good. She did not think to much of the Tennis player trainer.
Of course I thought of 100 more questoins to ask after we left.....

Let's try and meet next week if possible. I know your work and home is crazy, but I would love to meet you

Sounds like you did great at your race - hills are so tough in a race and I would have walked that monster one too. I find that sometimes it's smarter and that I couldn't run it any faster than I could walk it when they get so steep.
:thumbu2:
Oh and don't worry about that 3.5 pounds - my bet is you are still retaining water from the race. That stuff can be stubborn about leaving for a few days.
Great job!!!!
