View SAXONHARP's food & exercise for this day
My meeting with the Nutritionist went pretty good. I was a little scared that she would be a Food Nazi and tell me I could never have any treat type food again. Luckily this was NOT the case.
She did the general health questions, questions about my typical food and my exercise routine. She also tested my resting metabolism. This I was excited about because I know that you can only do so much with the basic questions that CK, WW, daily plate, etc use to determine what your calorie intake should be to lose weight. You basically breathe into this tube (and you put this clamp on your nose so you only breathe through your mouth) for 15 minutes (not very comfortable) and the machine measures how your body burns energy. She/the machine determined I need 2,100 calories to just exist. She is thinking I need more calories than the 1,600 that CK has decided for weight loss. She also believes in eating back the exercise calories as well. She said if you want to lose and maintain for a lifetime this is how to do it. I am sure if I am getting the nutrition I need the cravings for the bad stuff will lesson. A lot of the meeting was a confirmation that, in general, I do know what I was doing. I just need to tweak some stuff.
Her philosophy is not to change my plan all at once. She is just going to focus on changing a couple of things each week or month depending. She says she never wants to take away anything. I think eventually things might fad out naturally. From my past history of feeling deprived this was a very important aspect for me.
Basically we will have email communication each week and I will forward her my food logs and she will give me feedback and we will meet once a month. I am just paying once a month for the moment because I do not want to be locked into anything right now.
There was nothing that was earth shattering from the meeting that is making me state I am going to lose all this weight next week! which is a good thing. I am excited for the weekly emails. This is how it works with my running coach and it is VERY helpful.
This morning I had a GREAT workout. It was speed work. I had to do 12 x 400s with a 3 minute break between each one. I had my best pace on each one. I averaged 9:00 pace on each 400. I even had an 8:38 pace one time.

Awesome news about your nutritionist... glad you found someone who wants to work WITH you and not shove their ideas down your throat (pun intended...)
