View SAXONHARP's food & exercise for this day
The St. Pats 5 mile run went pretty good. My goal was under 52 minutes and my official time was 50:29! I was happy with that especially since it was HOT! The race started at 9am (I really hate late race start times). I love the 7am start times.
It was hot and humid. I usually start races in the back because I dont like people zooming by me but I there were 13,000 people at this run so I know I needed to start closer than I usually do. Well, I guess I was still pretty far back because I had to weave through tons of people the entire race to keep my pace.
Because I was concentrating on weaving and climbing hills (St. Louis has a hilly downtown but you would not realize it driving) that I passed up both water stations and did not wear my fuel belt (very dumb on my part). BUT I felt during the run with the heat and humidity. This is giving me a little more confidence that I could run the half marathon in April in 2:20.
I met up with my family after the run and watched the parade for a while and then we came home and made corned beef for Rueben sandwiches and had some friends over. We had apple martinis and baileys cupcakes. So much fun! So this might explain why I am up 2 pounds this morning. PLUS I think I got totally dehydrated at the run. I drank water all day long and I still felt like a raisin.
Here is a picture of my family at the race. In front in the Mohawk wig is Elizabeth, then Clara and my hubby.
