i like a treat
every now and then
a little chocolate
is never a sin

i enjoy a chip
a nut or a fry
some rocky road
or blueberry pie

i’ll pass by the salad
and unsweetened tea
just to taste that lemon cake
yes, it is calling to me


a glass of merlot
or a nice cold beer
makes a meal complete
a few times a year

i’m not asking for much
just every once in awhile
a cheesecake, new york style
would sure make me smile

not out of control
and not because I am mad
not because I am happy
and not because I am sad

but because i am normal
and can have one little slice
and walk away
now that would be nice

to feel satisfied
without needing more
of the forbidden treats
that i simply adore

when that day comes
and my treats can be small
when a whole box of cookies
doesn’t tempt me at all

when that day comes
I’ll hold my head high
and wink at my detractors
and enjoy that piece of pie

because just a little
goes a long long way
when you’ve conquered the demons
that always ruined your days

the ones that said
don’t stop at one bite
the gallon of ice cream
that would keep you up all night

my day is coming
when food is my friend
when a little treat is all I need
just every now and then

so chocolate beware
and cupcakes stand back
when I regain the self control
I now sorely lack

I’ll taste you and savor you
and enjoy every last bite
but the piece will be small
and I will finally be alright

Thanks for your comment on my blog. :love: Regarding chocolate, or all things delicious, I think having a "free" meal helps with that issue -- I don't want to overeat at those meals. It's like aversion therapy, really, because you'll feel sick if you do. And it's not because I'm happy or sad or mad because it's planned. During the week I can resist all temptations because I know my free meal is coming and I can have it then, without the guilt, without the gain. I just can't have it ALL. :)

Thanks for the blog comment on running. I didn't perceive it as negative at all, just honest! I'm really not sure if my knees will make it but I am going to give it a try. If it doesn't work out, on to the next challenge! Have a wonderful week....I really enjoy your blogs!

:wave1: You know that you can eat a bit of Dark Chocolate everyday...it is very healthy for your heart...just log it...and enjoy it...Of course red wine or red grape juice has the same benefits but I would chose the chocolate...Have a great Saturday and don't work to hard painting...:)
