i came, i saw, i conquered
never have i spoken those words
with such pride and conviction
thumping my chest
standing up to cheer
i survived another challenge
another notch in my belt
i am smiling today
the party
was fun
and everyone
noticed my weight loss
now, i have a long way to go
that i know
and i am not winning
any bathing beauty contests
just yet
but, i looked nice
felt great
i was like my old self
before the last big gain
put me into the funk
i stayed in for a long time
like caesar, i was armed and ready
a fiber one bar
my salad dressing
my milk, for coffee
and a little pudding cup
just in case
i drank water
lots of water
and laughed like
i was drinking the wine
lots of wine
thats how much fun we had
the company was the best
and that helped
some of my favorite people
they were there
supporting me
as i support them
no matter what
no matter when
we are there
for each other
family
more than friends really
who cheer me on
and wish me well
in my efforts
to fight this battle
of the great big bulge
now just a wee bit smaller
a year ago
i had a bad back
and was about to
have a heart attack
almost, anyway
and i was feeling blue
every single day
because i wasnt doing anything
to change my life
and the way i looked
and the way i felt
how could i be happy?
now the past is, well
in the past
and i am on the journey
of a lifetime
fighting the war
against an enemy
i cant see
because it is
inside me
but now
i taste victory
i feel strong
and know i can win
i came, i saw, i conquered
the buffet,
i barely touched.
the wine,
i did not drink.
the demons,
i kept asleep.
the doubts,
i pushed aside.
the self esteem,
i did not hide.
the success,
i felt with pride.
veni, vidi, vici
in any language
in any place
i give my victory
and share my joy
with all of you
to inspire
as you inspire me.
go on my friends
and fear nothing
and we will be
victorious together
