View WILLLOSEIT's food & exercise for this day

my husband works nights and forgets that he is 55 years old every once in awhile. now i am not saying that he shouldn't be active, because he is. but sometimes you just have to know when to say no. because the yankees are on the west coast this week, the last edition of the ny post is not completed until almost 3:00 am . that means ralph doesn't get home until after 3:30 am. he winds down and comes to bed sometime after 4:00 am. the problem is he still wants to get up each morning and play 18 holes of golf. so he works on 3 to 4 hours sleep with a couple of cat naps in between for most of the week.

well this morning he learned his lesson. he had a 10:00 am tee time with a couple of buddies at glen arbor, a course in northern westchester (about 1/2 hour drive from here). he was so tired last night, that he forgot to set his alarm (which he never does) and woke up only because my alarm went off at 9:00 am. he didn't even realize he was late or that he had overslept. i didn't either, because he never told me his tee time. he rushes out the door without breakfast with me yelling at him to make sure he eats something before he tees off and i am left to do what i need to do for the day. or so i thought.

around 10:00 am the phone rings and he tells me that chuck and danny aren't at the course and he is wondering if he misunderstood the time. he doesn't have either cell phone number with him (because he is such an organized person!!!) i tell him that i will email danny with his cell phone number and try to find out what's going on. danny has a blackberry, so he returns messages in a nano second usually. of course, ralph did misunderstand and they were playing at 11:00 am at a different course -- another 20 miles north of where ralph was.

so, now do you think all is right with the world? nope, not a chance. my sleepy headed, dopey husband somehow manages to lock both his keys and cell phone in the car! I don't know how that happened, because the car supposedly has something built in to prevent just such a thing. obviously it isn't working!!! now he has to wait for AAA (because he knew better than to expect me to get dressed and bring him the spare set of keys since i have so much to do today!!). i email danny and tell him that ralph won't be playing today because he'll never make the tee time now.

end of story? ohhhh, my friends never!!! ralph calls me about 20 minutes ago to tell me that he just got to hollow brook but there is a problem with the car alarm. it wouldn't shut off as he left glen arbor after AAA got him back in the car. it kept going on and off the whole drive to the second course. this happened to him one other time a few months ago. since it never happened again we thought it was a fluke and didn't do anything about it. i could hear the alarm in the background while we spoke. i was trying not to laugh at his predicament or get pulled into his drama anymore for the day. both of these golf clubs are pretty exclusive and he and his buddies get to play there because of their press credentials. he was mortified because of the alarm and predicting that neither club would invite him back. an overreaction, for sure but he is obsessed about golf so i didn't do anything to calm him down at the moment. i told him to press the red button on the key fob and the alarm went off. i calmed his pretty little head and suggested that we bring the car to honda as soon as possible to figure out why the alarm keeps going off and to just go have fun and meet the boys on the 4th tee!! what i really wanted to say was i was right and you should have just stayed in bed today but i would never do thatÂ…lol men and their dramas; you gotta love it!!!

as for me, no drama here. i will finish my photo boards and then head out for a manicure and pedicure later this afternoon. i managed a .5 pound loss this week which brings my total to 28.5 pounds. i am anxious to reach 30 pounds but doing it very slowly...you know i don't want to scare that number away. (yes, that's exactly why i am going so slowly...lol) i wrote something like this on the NoMo thread so forgive the repetitiveness.

i don't have much more to say today other than i can't wait until next week. then i will have a 3 week break before the next event. i have to give a little woooohoooo for that. i will be back on sunday for some much needed ck therapy. until then, you all have a great day and an even better weekend.

the photo: since i have been scanning photos for 24 hours, i thought i would share one of marianne and me taken at her wedding almost 28 years ago. sometimes we are amazed at how strong our friendship has remained through the years. she is like my sister and i love her and her family mucho!!!! oh, and just look at how "heavy" i was...what an idiot!!!

Your poor Ralph! The plastic surgeon I worked with was a real golf lover. He would get up early (4 a.m) to golf before the OR (he'd go with the residents) and one time he was late--- he told me it started raining so they had to wait under a tree.....and I told him, don't ever tell the OR supervisor that you're late because you're golfing! He got in trouble that day! :)

I love the photo of you and Marianne. We had to get photo ID's to wear at school this year. Many of the young teachers were unhappy with the way their photo's turned out and wanted to retake them. I told them when they look back in a few years at photos of themselves when they thought they were fat--they would realize how good they really looked and would wish they had enjoyed that knowledge at the time. I know I look back at photos and think of how hard I was on myself--never satisfied--when I should have been secure that I was just fine.

Oh lord...I could just see it all. Reminded me of the scene from Little Miss Sunshine when the horn would not stop. Thanks for the laugh and have fun at the party! By the way what is a NO-MO?

Love the story of Ralph. You handled that like a true kind, loving wife without being an enabler. Love ya, Judy
