mary chapin carpenter sings "i feel lucky." that could have easily been my theme song for yesterday. at approximately 6:15 pm last night, right before my dad and i were about to pack it in after a day at the casino, i hit a progressive jackpot of $3,428.96 on a nickel slot machine (of all things!!)i never really played slot machines before, opting always for the video poker machines which supposedly have the best odds for winning. but at the empire state casino i would say 8...

we are trying to catch up with life after a hectic weekend of tears and happiness. i needed 2 days to recover mainly because my left ankle was killing me. i broke my ankle about 14 years ago and it has given me trouble ever since. it was a very bad break that required 2 surgeries, 3 months in a cast and 6 months of physical therapy. it has never been the same. it swells all the time, especially when it's hot and humid. and as i have gotten older it gets more stiff and painful, especially w...

well my niece's wedding weekend is upon us. i am writing this entry at 1:23 am because today is going to be a busy day. i have my hair appointment (and another one tomorrow) at 10:30 am, followed by manicure and pedicure at 12:00 pm. then i have to do a little grocery shopping (i know i should have done that today) and pick up a few things at the cleaners. my dress for the wedding for one thing and a special gift which i will tell you about shortly. hopefully i will be home by 3:30 pm just e...
