View SAXONHARP's food & exercise for this day
What a busy weekend. Our family loves animals, everytime we go to the pet stroe to buy dog food over the weekends we always go see the dogs and cats that are available for adoption. Every Saturday there is an oranization called 4 paws for rescue that is at petSmart. I asked the owner a while back how someone could volunteer to help and she said she needs foster families. We have always wanted to try it and now that Jason has his new schedule he felt we were ready to give it a try. So on Friday we got 3 - 6 week old girl aussie/lab mixes. It was been a busy weekend with the puppies but we finally got a good routine with them. Today they are getting spade and their shots and this coming weekend they will be at petsmart for the adoption event. The owner thinks they should be adopted pretty quick. We are having fun doing this as a family. But the next dog we foster, we would like an older doggie. We will do puppies but we definately need a break.
Saturday was the 5K. For the shape I am in right now I did pretty good. Here are the official results. I now seems to be in the middle of my age group! I used to be at the end:
"Your time of 31:53 gave you a pace of 10:17 per mile. Your overall finish place in the Short Division was 479 and your age group finish place was 23. There were 45 finishers in the Women 40 to 44 age group and 714 finishers in the Short Division" It was not an event where they had your chip start time. So my garmin time was 31:30. almost hit my goal of 31:00. I am satifified with my time because it was a super hilly course. I could have run it a little faster BUT I was being a little conservative on the first downhill because I thought there would be a lot more downhills but I was mistaken! I was not a good racer because I did not know the course before I ran it. 2 weeks is the 4 miler.....
So after doing personal training the Thursday before, for the first time in a while and then racing the 5K my legs were kind of shot. I was a little worried about the long run with the training team on Sunday. I had to do 10 miles and be a motivator. I actually felt pretty good. Most people were only running 4 miles. I had one guy who ran 8 miles with me and I did the last 2 on my own.
I did feel bad because there were a couple of people who were in the walk/run group last time and wanted to "move up" to my pace group but they could not really keep up. While running I try to run with everyone for a little bit. I was running next to this one gal and asked her what she was training for and she could not speak one word (we were only about .75 miles into the run). I suggested that she slow down her pace because she needs to be able to carry on a conversation espcially if she want to complete the 4 miles. But there were 2 people who were only going to do 3 miles and ended up doing 4! There is one guy (the one who ran with me for 8 miles) who was in the walk/run group and is now running comfortable in my 12-13 pace group. He was sweet and said it was his goal to run in my pace group. That was so awesome and really inspired me.
So I did it. I finally stepped on that scale and I was right. 237.25. YUCK. Pretty much a 13 pound gain in 6-7 weeks. I just knew it. Good thing is that I know my body. Other good thing I am not beating myself up like I would have in the past. So I am back to daily weighins, it is what works for me. First goal is for me to get back to 225. I know I can do this!

I bet those little girls are so cute! It is hard not to get attached.
Great job on the run!

I've always wanted to foster, but never have. You guys are great people for doing that.
Good for you for getting on the scale, taking note of the number, but not letting it knock you down. Because it doesn't define you and all these other amazing things you've been doing with your body. That's a a great 5k pace!
