Friday, Sep 7 2007 - the waning days of watermelon
View WILLLOSEIT's food & exercise for this day
i am sad to report that the last of the juicy, sweet, mouth-watering watermelons are making their way to the markets in the northeast. in fact, i have already noticed that they are smaller, less succulent and often less ruby red than the wonderful melons of just a month ago. it's a miserable day for us diehard watermelon lovers. i can honestly say that i have eaten watermelon every single day for the past 3 months. it has been my go-to fruit and i will miss it so.
yes, the fall fruit season is upon us and i like apples and all the wonderful varieties for sale, but they are not watermelons. pears are appealing and a well-ripened one can be quite juicy, but my friends it is still not a watermelon!! now i could buy the late season watermelons and pay some exorbitant price for one. but we all know the disappointment i will feel when i cut open the not so juicy orb of pale red that will taste bland and flavorless when i take me first bite. no i will not go there again. i am haunted by lackluster watermelons of yesteryears...sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh..
and so with a heavy heart and a sadder fruit bowl i move on. goodbye sweet watermelon. i await your luscious return next year.
now on to happier things. my weigh-in today is proof positive that i am back on track.
with a 2.5 pound loss (that includes my 1 pound gain of last week) i have reached the illusive 30 pounds gone mark!!!!!! i know it's just a number, but we like them round and in multiples of 10!! i'll be just as thrilled at my weight losses between now and 40 pounds, but there's just something about the nice even numbers!!!! it took me over a month to lose 4.5 pounds to get to where i am today. it was a struggle, but it's behind me and i am doing the happy dance today....please join me in a celebration
boogaloo...

have a great day everyone.

Great job, Grace!

Bunko is a super fun dice game. You need 12 people to play, and you rotate around three different tables. There is no skill involved, and it is a great way to get to know everyone in a crowd. A bunch of us from my school used to get together once a month for girls' bunko night. It was a blast!
