View LYNNABEL's food & exercise for this day

I have to correct myself - my run/walk wasn't 120 minutes, it was 1 hour 20 minutes. :) Still good, but not 120 minutes good.

Feeling very off today - woke up with a weird stomach thing at midnight and couldn't fall back asleep until 3ish. Not sure what was going on - it probably colored my whole day. I've been snippy and self-pitying.

Had beef pho for lunch. I love pho. And aside from the sodium its not that bad in terms of restaurant food.

Work has been pretty slow lately - enough that I'm a bit out of practice at being busy, or at having things to do that involve conflict. Which, you'd think, as a compliance officer, I'd be more comfortable with than I am. I hate icky interpersonal conflict.

I need to get in for a physical/lady-parts checkup but I have been putting it off until more weight comes off. Even at a good weight, I'm usually just over the 25 BMI marker so I always end up feeling a bit deflated. I have an unscientific theory that short people are cursed, weigh wise. Conventional wisdom says NEVER EVER eat less than 1200 a day - well, I'm fairly certain that my BMR is not much above 1200, which would make losing weight pretty impossible. So, at least the age I'm at now, I have to eat less than that to lose. I've been reading the internet rantings for and against the existence of "starvation mode." Some of it is pretty funny and sarcastic.

Someone here on CK recommended the spiralizer. It's OXO (on Amazon) and there's two kinds - a small hand held one and a larger one that has a handle (not electric). I got the larger one as it comes with 3 blades. I made the spaghetti zucchini last night and it was delicious. The potatoes weren't really like curly fries as I only used a pan spray (not deep fried) but they were tasty.

PS Thanks for the comments on my job prospect! Fingers crossed! I just drafted my letter of resignation and had a ridiculously good time writing it.

At the moment, I'd be happy to do anything for 20 minutes, let alone an hour and 20 minutes.:laugh5: My mojo is missing. I did sign up with a personal trainer to try to help me get it back, but that may not go well because I haven't met her yet. I hope she isn't perky.

G learned to make pho after he first visited Vietnam. He makes it about once every five years.:tongue8: It's a huge project!

Thanks for the link. Very interesting. Since I've had an issue of diverticultis (another thing that comes with getting old!) I've been focused on fiber in foods, but there are foods I have avoided because of their glycemic index. Potatoes is one, and I actually had to add it back into my diet because it was so rich in potassium.
Having the fitbit has helped me realize how narrow the window is for me between weight gain and loss. And the need to exercise!

I listened to "Why Diets Make Us Fat" while I was on my big driving trip in June. Aamodt makes some good points. She saves starvation mode exists but it's unique to each individual. Each of us has a "defended weight range". If you drop below that range your body will fight tooth and nail and you'll be eating and not know why. If one is overweight long enough this range can creep up. The bad news is that it rarely if ever creeps back down again no matter how hard we try.

I hate interpersonal conflict but then I hate dealing with people. :laugh5:
