Today I am grateful for the weekend that just ended. I am grateful for Will's smile, when it shows up unexpectedly. I am grateful for Rex's unending affection.

We saw Trevor Noah on Saturday night. It was a great show. He was as natural and personable as he seems on TV. And extremely funny. And very much a feminist. I had just finished his book before the show, and I'm glad I did, as I felt like it gave me context to his life.

I swam at the Y on Saturday while Ellie was at gymnastics. It was nice, and I didn't have to share a lane! Yay! Took yesterday off, and went to the Y this morning before work for weights and a quick run. Traffic was awful today - it took me two hours to get to work. And we're expecting more snow tonight and tomorrow. Its been an eventful several weeks, weather wise.

I've been using the phrase "eat the frog" on myself lately. During the day at work, that means tackling at least part of a task I don't want to tackle. At home it means setting an alarm every half hour or so to do something productive or at least active. In this way, I've managed to book our Europe trip, register Ellie for camp, reach out to a financial planner, and a bunch of work stuff. I like not feeling behind or that there is some onerous task waiting for me.

There are still things to do. Fill out the passport applications for the kids, make annual and vision appointments, finish my quilt. Figure out the purpose of my life. But my deal with myself is that while I can eat more than one frog, I only HAVE to eat one.

I've heard that frogs taste like chicken. :laugh5: I like the concept a lot though. Do one thing you dread/don't want to be need to per day. That would move forward so much stuff in my life.

Not having to share a lane is about 99% of what makes me enjoy swimming.

Eat the frog ... like a heron?
